WEVA Launches 'On-The-Air' VOD & Podcast Site
May 27, 2006
Sarasota, FL - The Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) has continued its momentum in creating valuable new membership benefits by launching new Video On-Demand and Audio On-Demand (podcast) content produced for wedding and event videographers.
Available to members only, the new content is already online at the association's new site called WEVA On-The-Air. Several audio podcasts on technology topics and videography business issues, created exclusively for WEVA members by On-The-Air executive producers and podcast pioneers Kathy and Al Ritondo were unveiled Friday.
The initial audio podcast series include In The Biz hosted by Kathy Ritondo, and Tech Talk hosted by Al Ritondo.
"In The Biz brings you answers to the questions you have on everything to do with opening and running your wedding and event video business. Videographers come to our industry from all walks of life, but have not necessarily been business owners,” Ritondo said.
"The new podcast series covers marketing, contracts, making business life easier, insurance, the work environment, when to expand, when to hire employees, making equipment purchases, and more. It covers all the questions you have about operating your videography business,” she said. Several segments are already online for immediate member access.
WEVA Tech Talk was launched to take videographers further into the world of new and emerging digital technology and its impact on the professional wedding and event videographer. Many of the shows are being recorded on-location at major industry events, such as NAB and Wedding & Event Video Expo where manufacturers, product engineers, and other tech-savvy professionals are interviewed live.
Interviewees on Tech Talk podcasts now online include the president of Panasonic Broadcast, the director of high-definition DVD technology for Sanyo Electronics, specialists from JVC Professional, DVD production wizards, and other tech experts. How is new technology affecting our sector of professional video? Listen in and find out where our industry is headed. WEVA members can access the content 24/7 by going to WEVA On-The-Air.
"The success and popularity of the on-location podcasts produced for the World Record Wedding Video Shoot in Sacramento last February, which are online at www.weva.com/wrwve (scroll down), ignited development of this exciting new site," said WEVA's Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas. "Plans are already in place for additional new programming."
A brand new streaming video series called The WEVA Vault is available on the site and features interviews with WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductees, and WEVA Special Award honorees.
The first segment is an on-camera interview with WEVA Hall of Fame inductee and multi-year WEVA Creative Excellence Award recipient John Goolsby of Cannon Video Productions (Riverside, CA).
"There are pearls of wisdom in every segment from 'The WEVA Vault' that will resonate with videographers who want to be inspired, and who want to glean real-world insights into the methods and techniques that have proven so successful for these special wedding and event videographers who truly are WEVA treasures," said Al Ritondo.
“You don’t need an iPod to access WEVA On-the-Air programs,” said Ritondo. “A podcast is an MP3 audio file that you can download from the Internet, preferably by broadband. The advantage is that you can listen to the program from your MP3 player, which is great because you decide where and when you want to listen. You can also listen to the audio program and watch the video features on your computer."
Building on WEVA's Expanding IT Exploration
