Video Duo Unveils First Wedding Video Podcast Site
May 12, 2005
Iselin, NJ - The growing popularity of podcasting has spawned WedVidTalk.com, a new website devoted to producing podcasts for the wedding and event video industry.
Created by veteran videographers and longtime WEVA International members, Al and Kathy Ritondo, the new site will be the focal point for audio interviews with industry leaders, consumers, and professional videographers.
“We are in an industry that is constantly changing, filled with business owners that operate their businesses alone or with their spouse. We don’t have the luxury of a ‘company water cooler’ to discuss the events of our industry. We hope that our podcasts will help bridge that info gap,” said Kathy Ritondo.
Podcasting is a word combining iPod and broadcasting. It uses the latest technology for personal publishing of an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed.
“You don’t need an iPod to listen to the audio program,” said Al Ritondo. “A podcast is an MP3 audio file that you can download from the Internet, preferably by broadband. If you have a dial-up connection, you may experience horrific download time. The advantage is that you can listen to the program from your MP3 player, which is great because you decide where and when you want to listen. You can also listen to the audio program on your computer, which is how we suspect most of our audience will listen,” he said.
Al Ritondo has been a professional wedding videographer since 1985. He also works in the health care industry as a video producer. Kathy joined her husband’s company in 1989, leaving a 13-year career in magazine publishing. She currently serves as Chairperson of the WEVA Special Awards Committee, and is also the liaison for the WEVA Local Association Presidents Council. Both Kathy and Al also served on WEVA’s National Select Committee on Camcorder Development.
Al has served as a international competition judge for the WEVA Annual Creative Excellence Awards Competition, and both he and Kathy have presented professional development seminars and workshops at WEVA EXPO. They are currently heading-up the special retrospective documentary covering the 15-year history of WEVA EXPO, and the pioneers and WEVA Hall of Fame inductees who have shaped the development and growth of professional wedding and event videography.
Kathy and Al Ritondo are also co-founders of New York Professional Videographers (NYPV) a local association that serves the New York City area. Together, Kathy and Al operate Personal Touch Video in Iselin, NJ.
