WEVA's 'Power of Video' Hits Minneapolis March 19th
February 24, 2007
Sarasota, FL - "The Power of Video & How to Get More Business Using It" a new marketing program for videographers and wedding professionals, developed by the Public Relations Committee of Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA), will be the featured presentation at the Minnesota Professional Videographers Association (MPVA) on March 19th. The meeting starts at 7:00 pm at the Minnetonka Community Center in Minnetonka, MN. For details contact association president John Deyo at 888-584-3396.
The program’s featured speaker will be Kris Malandruccolo, Chairperson of the WEVA Public Relations Committee, a WEVA EXPO presenter, and owner of Elegant Videos by Kris (IL).
The WEVA PR Committee, which also includes Al Ritondo, Personal Touch Video (NJ); Natalie Neal, Glass Slipper Productions (PA); and Mike Nelson, Remember When Video Productions (UT), has spent the better part of two years developing outreach programs that either directly benefit the WEVA membership, or are meant to promote the wedding and event industry to the wedding industry at large.
In the first phase of development, the WEVA PR Committee set out to bolster the marketing abilities of fellow members by creating an exclusive step-by-step program for developing relationships with local wedding planners. This ground-breaking industry networking initiative called, "Take a Bridal Consultant to Lunch" launched in the winter of 2005 and explained step-by-step how to find, contact, and arrange informative meetings with local planners.
The committee’s special "Lunch Kit" included contact lists, phone scripts, wedding video presentation tips, and conversation starters. The innovative kit also included important wedding video research from WEVA’s Nationwide Survey of Brides and other background materials members could use to help further educate consultants and their clients on the value of professional wedding videography.
Phase II was timed to kick off with the start of the new wedding season in January 2006, and included development of "The Power of Video & How to Get More Business Using It" a new video PowerPoint presentation aimed at wedding industry businesses such as caterers, florists, DJs, consultants, and others. Spotlighting many examples of WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning wedding videography, the presentation brings industry affiliates up to speed on state-of-the-art wedding video creativity. It also shows how these sectors of the bridal industry can use professional video to promote their businesses.
In the past year, members of the WEVA Public Relations Committee have been “on the road” presenting the “Power of Video” to numerous organizations nationwide. In November, Kris traveled to Colorado for two events, including a presentation to the Colorado Professional Videographers Association (CoPVA) pictured above.
Jay Wren President of CoPVA and owner of Wren Video Services said, “We want to thank WEVA for sponsoring this meeting. Kris Malandruccolo’s presentation was very highly attended by our members.” Attendee Mark Briody, a WEVA International member who operates Weddings of the Rockies said, "Kris’ presentation made me see the value of using portable video to market to potential clients. As a result, I purchased a video iPod for that purpose and delivered our first video iPod highlights to a client!" Maureen Bacon, CoPVA Membership Chairperson and owner of Impact Images relates, "Kris did a great job of getting the members excited about the power of video and we had six new members join CoPVA that night."
Just before arriving in Denver, Kris was down the road in Colorado Springs at the Broadmoor Hotel to represent WEVA International at the 25th Annual ABC Business of Brides National Conference. The wedding industry professionals in attendance came from 44 states, three countries, and nine provinces.
Kris has also presented WEVA's "Power of Video" to the annual convention of the Association for Wedding Professionals, International, the Chicago Chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants, and to local videographers associations in the Midwest region.
Over the past several months, "The Power of Video" has also been presented to local videographers associations in New York City, Connecticut, and Florida by WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductees Al and Kathy Ritondo, recipients of the 2006 WEVA Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award and owners of Personal Touch Video (NJ), whose popular WEVA podcasts cover local association developments.
"At each local meeting, wedding and event videographers were inspired by the WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning videos displayed, and excited to learn how WEVA's new educational initiatives have been working collectively to raise awareness of the impact of video, and the high quality of work being delivered by WEVA members around the country,” said John Zale WEVA International’s Director of Educational Development.
