WEVA PR Committee Expands Wedding Videography Education to Industry Groups Nationwide
April 21, 2006

Sarasota, FL - The WEVA International Public Relations Committee has followed up on the success of its Take A Bridal Consultant to Lunch initiative by representing WEVA at the annual convention of the Association For Wedding Professionals International (AFWPI).

WEVA Public Relations Committee Chairperson Kris Malandruccolo of Elegant Videos by Kris (IL) unveiled “The Power of Video & How To Get More Business Using It” to wedding professionals nationwide as a featured speaker at AWPI's national conference, held earlier this month in San Antonio, TX.

The video Power Point presentation was developed jointly by the members of the WEVA PR Committee including Malandruccolo, Al Ritondo of Personal Touch Video (NJ) and Natalie Neal of Glass Slipper Productions (PA). It includes samples of work from WEVA members around the country showing new trends in professional videography. Samples included new 3D Photo Montage imaging, and fresh creativity in bridal preparations, Love Story productions, Bar Mitzvah concept videos, Memorial Videos, and more.

“I have no doubt that the perception of professional wedding and event videography was changed by those attending the presentation,” said Malandruccolo. “The attendees commented afterwards that, ‘Now I will be better able to sell video to my clients because now I understand the impact of video’ and ‘I didn't realize this kind of work was possible!’"

WEVA also exhibited at the AFWPI trade show where Kris and Bob Malandruccolo handed out WEVA folders that contained the WEVA 2005 Survey of Brides, the recent US News & World Report article spotlighting the expansion of high quality work in professional videography, a fact-sheet on current industry trends, information on how wedding professionals can find WEVA members by using the WEVA Brides Guide on the WEVA website, and more.

“This year, our Committee is focused intently on reaching out to other wedding professionals within the bridal community so we can help educate them on the various video services that WEVA members can provide for them,” said Malandruccolo. “We are also showing how videographers can help them market their bridal services through the use of new portable video, including iPod video."

The members of the WEVA PR Committee already have plans to take the new outreach program to the next level at upcoming video presentations to bridal industry groups across the country.

“As WEVA members, we know the high quality of work being produced by fellow members around the nation, but we felt the rest of the wedding industry wasn’t fully aware of what videographers are capable of producing, and the exciting new trends now emerging,” Malandruccolo said.

She presented a similar video presentation to the Chicago chapter of the Association for Bridal Consultants (ABC) last week, and is a confirmed speaker for the ABC’s annual national convention scheduled for later this year in Colorado.

“Reaching out to other wedding industry groups is a win-win situation. The PR Committee has spent an enormous amount of time and energy, including many late nights in developing a comprehensive video power point presentation and their hard work is already making a difference,” said WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman. “Consultants have contacted the association for details about the WEVA Brides Guide and for information about professional videography to help educate their brides -- the WEVA 2005 Survey of Brides in particular,” he said.

“Raising the awareness of our industry within the professional wedding community is a huge-step forward,” Malandruccolo added. “All videographers will reap the benefit of WEVA’s outreach efforts as direct education is such a powerful tool.”

Suggestions for the current initiatives and ideas for new public relations programs are welcomed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee and can be emailed to Kris@ElegantVideosByKris.com.
