THE DESTINATION for Success in Video is Wedding & Event Video Expo 2006; Register Now!
June 22, 2006

Sarasota, FL - The WEVA 16th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo is “Destination Success” for videographers worldwide! Registration has already opened with a PRE Early-Bird discount for WEVA members and special offer for Non-members, including Students, who register by July 11, 2006 – Click Here to Register! (Then click “Register Now" in the lower left corner.)

“With Wedding & Event Video Expo at Mandalay Bay, one of the USA’s most awesome convention/vacation destinations, and home to House of Blues, the entertainment will be unbeatable, so will the programs and networking opportunities for all wedding and event videographers in attendance," said John Zale, WEVA's Director of Educational Development. "If you're shooting and editing weddings and events, you've got to be at WEVA EXPO 2006. It's Destination Success for you and your business.

"The schedule for WEVA EXPO 2006 will feature a stellar slate of over 70 wedding & event video seminars, Camera Clinics, workshops, system training, live demonstrations of new technology, workflow management, wedding video makeovers, power marketing, portable video concepts, best Internet strategies, networking activities, and an awesome Trade Show...not to mention over 12,000 jobs coming to WEVA EXPO through the Global Power Launch of Project StreamLocal, plus top presentations from national marketing experts like Robert Gordman, author of 'The Must-Have Customer.'

"EXPO 2006 programs will also feature select seminars in Spanish--including After Effects training and new wedding and event video creativity. It means this year’s groundbreaking EXPO is set to be the most skill-building, most inspiring, and most successful for all videographers to date!”

Major manufacturers such as Adobe, Sony, Canopus, Avid, JVC and others will have as large or larger exhibit space at the WEVA EXPO Trade Show over last year to present cutting-edge solutions, including HD/HDV for shooting & editing wedding and event work, plus new technology (and new short-cuts!) for speeding-up workflow.

"Exhibitors are already telling us they will be offering lots of exciting "Show Only" discounts and packages at this year's EXPO," said WEVA's Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas. "It's going to be the best opportunity of the year for all attendees!"

The special, and first-ever, "EXPO Financing Program" (click here) announced by ILA earlier this week means videographers attending Wedding & Event Video Expo 2006 will have an attractive and money-saving alternative to 'all cash up front' transactions at the WEVA EXPO Trade Show. "If you are a wedding and event videographer you can now come to this industry’s largest convention and trade show with ready cash to purchase any equipment or software at the WEVA EXPO Trade Show that you need to expand or improve your business,” said ILA President, Bob Bell. “That is effective business growth!”

Free Abobe 4.5 Hour Pre-Convention Workshop on Monday

Many videographers coming to Wedding & Event Video Expo are eager to get started even before the doors officially open at 5:45 pm Monday, August 21st. At 10:30 am WEVA will be hold a special 90-minute orientation for first-time EXPO attendees.

On Monday, in addition to WEVA's optional pre-convention workshops, Adobe Systems will be providing free instruction for videographers on its new and powerful Production Studio editing software from 1pm-5:30pm. This special extended training session is free to registered WEVA EXPO attendees who sign-up in advance. With registration now open online, the day-by-day schedule of workshops and all of the exciting WEVA EXPO 2006 programs will be announced shortly.

Gain Greater Success With Evolving Technologies

Another sneak peek at the 2006 convention programming reveals that this year videographers are invited to bring popular camcorders with them to participate in special WEVA EXPO tech sessions called “Camera Clinics." These new sessions, which will repeat during the EXPO, will provide hands-on training in specific camera operations, including how to customize camera settings for optimum results in a variety of shooting environments.

WEVA EXPO 2006, Zale added, “will draw on current and evolving technologies, including HD/HDV, and new media technologies like portable video, to enable wedding and event videographers to reach a whole new level of creativity, skill-sets, and profitability. Attendees will discover how to use cutting-edge technology and techniques to get the upper-hand not just in workflow, but in other key areas, including marketing and sales, Internet video, and in the increasing opportunities emerging for weekday work.

“We're all suddenly working in the new world of 'broadband for everyone' and it's affecting members of our industry in new and different ways. We're confronted with amazing new opportunities but significant challenges too, including increased competition, how to keep up with new technology, and how to run a business that can be profitable and still allow you take a vacation. WEVA EXPO 2006 programming will present solutions that videographers can implement immediately."

On The Cutting-Edge

WEVA EXPO 2006 attendees will also discover cutting-edge techniques, new editing styles and production concepts featured in the annual WEVA EXPO “BATTLE OF THE VIDEOGRAPHERS! series, including “Battle of the Wedding Editing Styles” and the first-ever “Local Association Production Shoot-Out.”

“The 'Local Association Production Shoot-Out' will feature the collaborative work of wedding & event videographers nationwide as they compete through their Local Associations to produce the best 60-second TV commercial for promoting professional wedding videography. Attendees will cast their ballots for the best production at the world premier screening at WEVA EXPO 2006,” Zale said.

“EXPO attendees can gain new skills in video concept development, new ideas for promoting wedding videography, and learn innovative shooting & editing techniques, all towards the goal of producing promotional video that is intended to strengthen and uplift our industry in major media nationwide.

“Attendees will be the first to see all of the creative videos, first to examine all of the new and inspiring ideas in promoting professional wedding videography, and will also be the ones to judge each of the videos as they are screened. The local association winners will be announced at the Premier!”

Inspiration Unlimited

Wedding and event videographers have been excited about the WEVA 16th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo from the time it was announced. “Many of our SPVA members who attended WEVA EXPO 2005 in Las Vegas were first time attendees and blown away by the quality of the seminars, the huge trade show, and the phenomenal work presented during the event. Our members look forward to getting another inspirational and informational boost again this year by attending WEVA EXPO 2006 at Mandalay Bay,” said Mike Jensen President of the Sacramento Professional Videographers Association.

"Mandalay Bay Resort is one of the top three resorts in all of Las Vegas. It's a perfect opportunity to mix a little business with a little pleasure. I plan on bringing the whole family to EXPO 2006,” said Bruce Garner President of the Greater Philadelphia Videographers Association.

"I've been attending WEVA EXPOs for over a decade now, and they have always had world class conventions. With EXPO 2006 being held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, they've got first class accommodations, too! I think this year, more than ever, with everything changing so fast, it's important to take advantage of the opportunities that WEVA EXPO offers. The EXPO has always been the biggest and best way to stay on the cutting-edge, get educated, and inspired. My business wouldn't be where it is today without all I've learned from attending WEVA EXPO,” said Keith Kelly President of the Illinois Videographers Association.

“In truth, I'd probably attend WEVA EXPO even if it was under a tent in the desert. But having it back on The Strip, and at a great place like Mandalay Bay, will kick the energy up to a whole new level,” said Chuck Savadelis President of the Bay Area Professional Videographers Association.

Official Opening on Monday August 21

The WEVA 16th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo will officially open at 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2006 at Mandalay Bay and conclude by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006. An all new slate of optional, pre-convention workshops will be held Monday afternoon starting at 12:30 p.m.

Dan Krieger, Chairman of the WEVA Continuing Education Committee added that at this year's EXPO, the Committee will conduct the written exam for videographers wishing to attain the WEVA Merited Professional Videographer (MPV) accreditation. To take the MPV Exam register NOW - Click Here!
