WEVA's 'The Power of Video' Heading to Japan in July
April 30, 2008

Sarasota, FL - Following-up on last year’s presentation in Europe, WEVA’s The Power of Video and How to Get More Business by Using It (POV) is heading to Japan this summer.

The program will be presented in conjunction with the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) events planned in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan from July 10-July 20, 2008 (Tokyo pictured at right - image by www.photoeverywhere.co.uk).

The groundbreaking WEVA POV world tour, an industry-first in professional wedding and event videography, was developed and launched to educate wedding professionals worldwide on the power of professional wedding videography and current US wedding trends.

The host location for the POV seminar in Tokyo will be the Meiji Kinenkan Shrine. The Meiji Kinenkan was the first official wedding hall to offer a wide range of services for wedding couples and their families in Japan. The main hall, a historical location, was the place where the Japanese Imperial Constitution and Imperial House Act were presented to the Emperor Meiji. It was then opened as a wedding destination after WWII. In Osaka, the event will be held at the beautiful Hotel Monterey, a fourteen-story wedding location and destination.

Presenting WEVA’s "The Power of Video" on the Japan tour will be WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductee Kris Malandruccolo, Chairperson of the WEVA Public Relations Committee and owner of Elegant Videos by Kris (IL). Kris has also earned the ABC's designation of Master Wedding Vendor. She will also present a separate seminar on the POV tour both in Tokyo and Osaka entitled "Producing Cinematic Style Wedding Videos" to acquaint attendees with new styles of wedding productions popular with US brides.

Coordinating this extraordinary educational initiative from Japan is Yoshi Kohara, Director of Asian Markets for the Association of Bridal Consultants, which is sponsoring the WEVA presentation. Mr. Kohara will also be a featured ABC presenter speaking on the topic of current wedding trends.

Developed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee which also includes, Natalie Neal, Al Ritondo, and Mike Nelson, "The Power of Video" features highlights from top WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning wedding videos. The POV presentation shows how the impact of highly-produced videos can help market and sell the big-picture concept of videotaping weddings and other important lifecycle events.

At the Tokyo and Osaka events, local Japanese bridal consultants, event planners, and professional wedding videographers will benefit from networking together and discovering how new DVD creativity is blending with new portable displays to form powerful sales tools for generating more wedding business in today's competitive marketplace.

"The WEVA POV event set to debut in Japan this summer is an exciting industry breakthrough, an unparalled opportunity for an ‘East Meets West’ sharing of new wedding trends, techniques and traditions," said Roy Chapman, Chairman of WEVA International. It’s in step with WEVA’s quest to expand horizons for our members and our industry worldwide, and follows upon WEVA’s recent international events in Europe, Australia, and Canada."
