WEVA NEWS MINUTE: JVC's New GY-HD200UB ProHD Cam & MR-HD200
April 29, 2008
Las Vegas, NV - At NAB 2008, JVC showed their newly-upgraded GY-HD200UB multi-format ProHD camcorder available now, and previewed the upcoming MR-HD200 camera-mounted media recorder. The shoulder-mount HD200UB now offers live (real-time) output for selectable 1080/60i and 1080/50i signals, as well as 720p, through the unit's FireWire (IEEE 1394) port. It can be matched with an optional JVC hard drive for recording 1080i or 720p signals.
The selected signal output can also be recorded into JVC’s DR-HD100 ProHD Hard Disk Recorder as either .m2t or .mov QuickTime™ files. WEVA NEWS MINUTE producers Sue Lawson and Bruce Himmelblau talked with JVC’s Lee Thompson on-site for this up-close view of the new GY-HD200UB and MR-HD200U.

The GY-HD200UB provides dual-media (tape & HDD) recording with DTE and includes a 16:1 Fujinon lens. JVC says the upgraded HD200UB offers better horizontal resolution and S/N ratio courtesy of an advanced 14-bit A/D converter for lower noise in low light and better highlight handling. Videographers will appreciate the native progressive image capture and the “overcranked” recording for superb slow motion images during 24p final output.
The MR-HD200U records on non-proprietary Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) solid state memory, in a compact unit that can be permanently attached to JVC's ProHD cameras. A single 16GB SDHC memory card can store 1.6 hours in the 720p mode and approximately 1.2 hours in 1080i mode. The unit also features a built-in hard disk drive for extended recording times of up to 10 hours. For more information visit JVC Professional Products.
