LIVE-Stream of Rick Braun Jazz Concert by WEVA Rated 'Awesome!'

Sarasota, FL - On Friday, April 24th, WEVA members made history in the San Francisco Bay Area by teaming with Prime Time Entertainment, Inc. to produce the first-ever, multi-camera LIVE-streamed jazz concert at the historic Claremont Resort & Spa. Featuring superstar jazz trumpeter and composer Rick Braun and his Band, the LIVE-streamed concert included pre-concert interviews with Rick, and a custom-produced destination video spotlighting the beautiful resort created by Dynasty Video.
Directed by Ryan Bodie owner of Studio 26 the Rick Braun streamcast is part of the new WEVA LIVE! Eventcasting Series. The Live-Streamed concert was configured to provide all viewing systems (computers and mobile devices) with full-screen, full broadcast-quality video -- and in two new streaming formats for viewers to compare. A special, behind-the-scenes film was shot by Sue Lawson and Bruce Himmelblau to document the historic concert event.
In total, the LIVE-streamed performance brought together the talents of concert videographers, sound technicians, Internet streaming experts and management specialists, all of whom are WEVA members. "It was an amazing concert - Rick and The Band were incredible! The LIVE-Stream production of such a high-energy show proved that most videographers who are WEVA members can now streamcast using professional gear they already own," said WEVA's Director of Educational Development and LIVE-Stream producer John Zale.
"The additional technology and platforms needed today for live-streaming are now very affordable for videographers nationally and worldwide. Some of the affordable technology WEVA employed to webcast the concert at such a high quality was introduced only weeks before the event - it's that new. And it's great news for our sector of pro video, and of course for concerts, and so many other events, too!" Zale adds.
LIVE-Streaming Now More Efficient & Affordable
WEVA’s goal in launching the new WEVA LIVE Eventcasting Series is to inform and educate event video producers on how to plan and execute live-streamed events efficiently and inexpensively. At WEVA EXPO 2009 in September and beyond, WEVA members will be producing various events LIVE-streamed using brand new streaming technology with each production getting behind-the-scenes coverage. "This process will enable WEVA to continue to bring state-of-the-art education to event videographers who want to be on top of their game. New WEVA sessions are where videographers will also learn how to generate new revenue using LIVE-stream technology and techniques in today's hot 'now media' marketplace," Zale relates.
Co-produced by Prime Time Entertainment, Inc. and WEVA, the WEVA Streamcast Crew for "Rick Braun Live!" included: WEVA Chairman Roy Chapman-Executive Producer, WEVA's Director of Educational Development John Zale-Producer, Lisa Randall-Media & Promotions Director, Rick Randall-Videographer, Jameson Randall-Audio Manager & Videographer, Sue Lawson-Behind-the-Scenes (BTS) Co-Producer, Bruce Himmelblau-BTS Co-Producer, Erin Bodie-Concert Videography, Britton Foster-Concert Videography, Dan Argenas-Streamcast Communications Director, and Ed Cannata-Graphics Design Director. Streamcast Technical Consultant Dave Randolph was also on-board to ensure a smooth online production.
In deciding upon its initial live concert production, WEVA teamed with The Claremont, and Prime Time Entertainment, Inc. based in Livermore, CA. Founded over 20 years ago by Jim Douglas, Prime Time Entertainment, Inc., has evolved into one of the most successful entertainment production companies on the west coast. The company has provided services not only throughout the continental United States but also Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and Europe.
As a chart-topping recording artist, Rick Braun is also one of the premier concert performers in Smooth Jazz, and in the past has worked as a sideman, touring with such rock and pop stars as Rod Stewart, Sade, Tina Turner, Natalie Cole, Tom Petty, Crowded House, Phoebe Snow and of course, War. Rick's new CD "All It Takes" will be available July 28th in stores and on iTunes.
'Rick Braun Live!' Gets Thumbs-Up from Viewers
Since introducing webcasting techniques to videographers at WEVA EXPO in 2001, WEVA has continued to update members on the evolution of streaming video. The Rick Braun jazz concert, for example, was LIVE-streamed not only to computer screens, but also to mobile devices around the globe.

Viewers were amazed by the quality of the concert coverage achieved in the Live-Stream display. "The post-show consensus is that the streamcast looked more like a televised production than online video," Argenas said. This was due not only to the expertise of the WEVA Stream Crew but also to the use of new specialized gear, including NewTek’s Tricaster Studio. The concert was configured for full-screen display in multiple viewing formats, including Flash and Windows Media.
