Videographers Jam WEVA's Annual NAB Open House

Sarasota, FL - WEVA's Annual 2009 NAB "Open House" at the Las Vegas Convention Center Monday April 20th delivered an exciting and educational program for all who attended. The filled to capacity crowd
witnessed an information packed program with the focus of this year’s Open House covering exciting, new equipment, technology, creative and business developments that will directly impact videographers’ business in 2009.
This was WEVA’s 12th Annual Wedding & Event Videographer NAB Open House and even though overall NAB attendance was down, the Open House was filled. “We had attendees who were extremely serious about improving their business, especially when they dedicated time in the evening after spending all day on the NAB floor,” states John Zale WEVA Director of Educational Development. He goes on to say, “The networking value alone, was an invaluable tool as well as asking questions about the product demos direct to the manufacturer’s rep….that’s up close and personal!”
Presenting their Tapeless Workflow Solutions and answering questions were Mike Downey from Grass Valley, Paul McAniff from Canon and Dennis Radeke from Adobe. WEVA Committee reports were also presented by Brooke Rudnick (Ambassador & Local Association); Tim Sudall (Disaster Relief & Networking); Al Ritondo (Public Relations); Chris Chibucos (Ethics & CEA) and Joseph Blackwell(Internship).
John Zale, also announced that Animoto (a new member benefit) had changed their policy on the Animoto logo appearing at the end of their produced videos after hearing from many members that it hindered their ability to use the service. Zale also announced that WEVA was adding a new category to the Annual Creative Excellence Awards (CEA), a Wedding Trailer Category. More details on this new category as well as the deadline for entering will be announced by WEVA later this week.
Finally, it was announced that WEVA was coordinating a team of WEVA members to produce an industry-first webcast of a Jazz Concert featuring superstar Rick Braun from the Claremont Hotel in Oakland on April 24th. This is the first streaming concert event that will show a behind-the-scenes feature designed to
