WEVA Educates Wedding Professionals at 2008 ABC Convention
December 10, 2008
Sarasota, FL - WEVA International had a huge impact and a successful visit to the annual convention and trade show of the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), being held in southern California November 9-11, 2008. There were approximately 400 attendees as they came from 39 states and 13 countries, including: Argentina, Bahamas, Bulgaria, Jamaica, Japan, Italy, U.K., Monaco, Singapore, Portugal, Panama, Mexico.
WEVA Public Relations Committee chairperson Kris Malandruccolo, a WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductee who has also earned the ABC's designation of Master Wedding Vendor, helped complete the ABC’s roundtable session "Video2Go" and demonstrated how bridal consultants and other wedding professionals can use video to promote, market, and sell their services.
Attendees also enjoyed the WEVA presentation that displayed wedding and event video spots produced by WEVA award-winning videographers. These mini-commercials, which highlight and confirm to brides the value of preserving their special day for generations to come, were distributed on a CD enabling consultants to upload them immediately to their mobile devices. Kris’ presentation focused on marketing yourself with video using iPods, iPhones, and other new personal video devices. She also had an opportunity to meet and consult with Colin Cowie, celebrity event planner to Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Hugh Hefner and others. (pictured above)
At the WEVA exhibit booth, wedding consultants gathered information about the latest developments in professional wedding videography, and how they can take advantage of working with WEVA members nationally and internationally. WEVA handed out "Video 2 Go" CDs showing some of the WEVA- Why Video? Video spots along with WEVA documents that could be printed out and put in a presentation folder. These materials are normally given to videographer’s clients and are tools that can be used by ABC professionals to help sell video to their clients.
In the past few years, WEVA has been working with the ABC and its nationwide chapters to present "The Power of Video and How to Get More Business by Using It." Developed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee, the multi-media program has been presented by Malandruccolo and other PR Committee members to bridal consultants and wedding professionals across the country.
"With the Internet and major media finally focused on video, the time is now," says WEVA Director of Education John Zale," for all professionals working in the bridal industry to learn successful new ways to use video as a powerful marketing tool. We are looking forward to working with ABC in 2009 to further promote professional video and its benefits to all related wedding and event professionals."
