WEVA's 'Power of Video' in Japan Initiates Industry Breakthrough
August 10, 2008
Sarasota, FL - Continuing on-tour nationally and worldwide, WEVA’s "The Power of Video," a multi-media program developed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee, was presented to bridal industry professionals last month in Japan by invitation of the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC). The industry breakthrough had been in planning and development for the past year.
WEVA’s PR Committee chairperson, Kris Malandruccolo, owner of Elegant Videos by Kris (IL) and a WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductee, presented the program to attendees at the ABC’s 7th Annual Conference held in Tokyo (pictured) and Osaka.
Yoshi Kohara, ABC’s Director of Asian Markets had worked with WEVA for over a year to coordinate the historic visit. "Our goal was to bring in WEVA and Kris to present 'The Power of Video' after I had seen it presented at the ABC conference in the US," Kohara said. "We wanted to introduce our attendees to new wedding trends in America as well as include some western ideas on marketing in our conference sessions."
Kohara noted that wedding consultants, videographers, and other bridal industry professionals who attended "The Power of Video" sessions in Tokyo and Osaka were thrilled with the WEVA multi-media program presented by Malandruccolo, which focused on new wedding and event video creativity and how bridal industry professionals can work with videographers to more successfully market their services to brides and others. "The presentation by Kris gave us many new ideas," Kohara added, "including how to use audio with video more effectively. I appreciated very much the organization and cooperation we received from both WEVA and Kris to make this a successful event."
During the conference, Malandruccolo, who has earned the ABC's designation of Master Wedding Vendor, also presented a separate seminar entitled "Producing Cinematic Style Wedding Videos" to acquaint ABC attendees with new styles of wedding productions popular with US brides.
The groundbreaking WEVA “Power of Video” world tour, an industry-first in professional wedding and event videography, was designed and launched to educate wedding professionals worldwide on the power of professional wedding videography and current US wedding trends.
The host location for the ABC event in Tokyo was the Meiji Kinenkan Shrine. The Meiji Kinenkan was the first official wedding hall to offer a wide range of services for wedding couples and their families in Japan. The main hall, a historical location, was the place where the Japanese Imperial Constitution and Imperial House Act were presented to the Emperor Meiji. It was then opened as a wedding destination after WWII. In Osaka, the ABC Conference was held at the renown Hotel Monterey, a 14-story wedding location and destination.
Developed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee which also includes, Natalie Neal, Al Ritondo, and Mike Nelson, "The Power of Video and How to Get More Business Using It" includes highlights from top WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning wedding videos. The presentation shows how the impact of highly-produced videos can help market and sell the big-picture concept of videotaping weddings and other important lifecycle events.
"The WEVA POV event in Japan last month was an exciting industry breakthrough, an unparalleled opportunity for an ‘East Meets West’ sharing of new wedding trends, techniques and traditions," said Roy Chapman, Chairman of WEVA International. It’s in step with WEVA’s quest to expand horizons for our members and our industry worldwide, and follows upon WEVA’s recent international events in Europe, Australia, and Canada."
