NEWS MINUTE: VariZoom's New Aviator Stabilizer
June 10, 2006
Las Vegas, NV - Aviator, from VariZoom, is a new and innovative, dual-arm stabilizer that supports cameras weighing 5-15 lbs. It was on display at VariZoom's NAB 2006 exhibit booth where WEVA NEWS MINUTE producers Bruce Himmelblau and Sue Lawson talked with videographers who are using VariZoom in their wedding work. It’s equipped with a new “FlowTech Gimbal.” The classic design has been improved by incorporating a detachable, ergonomically-sloped extension grip for better handling and the ability to add a zoom control. VariZoom's improved vest for Aviator includes a contoured chest pad, torso-gripping 4-point buckle system, and height-adjustable chest plate.
At the base of the sled, a 7" 16:9 NTSC/PAL color monitor serves as a large external viewfinder. A proprietary Li-Ion battery with LED capacity indicator is standard (V-lock, AB, NP1 mounts are available upon request at no additional charge). The monitor and batteries serve as counterweight for vertical balance and their positions can be adjusted for fine-tuning.
Aviator, which weighs about 16.65 lbs., also includes a low mode system for small to medium cameras to allow stabilized, low perspective shots. The system retails for $4,500. For more information, visit VariZoom.
