Sony To Ship Rough Cut
March 24, 2003
Park Ridge, NJ - Sony Electronics will ship its new Rough Cut video editing and archiving system in April, the company has announced.
Rough Cut combines a Sony AIT data storage drive and Mac-compatible software to offer video project back-up, archiving and retrieval capability. Edited projects from the timeline are stored on digital tape, and can be retrieved for further editing, copying or changing.
All elements attached to a project, including audio and video source clips, animations, graphics, EDLs, script notes and more are stored, including timecode information. A simple drag-and-drop interface simplifies project storage and recovery.
The system is compatible with Mac OS-based editing packages, including Avid, Media 100, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Pro Tools and Digital Performer. It is compatible with Mac OS X v10.2 back to OS 9.
A PC version is under development, the company announced.
Included in the Rough Cut kit is an AIT-2 digital tape drive, three AIT-2 50 GB, three AIT-2 36 GB and three AIT-25 GB media tapes, FireWire or iLink and Mezzo editing/storage back-up software.
The Rough Cut kit will sell for under $2,000.00.
