Plextor To Ship Its First Recordable DVD+R/RW Optical Drive
March 03, 2003
Fremont, CA - Plextor Corp. will enter the DVD burner market with its PX-504A DVD+R/RW drive.
The internal DVD writer delivers 4X DVD+R Writing and 2.4X DVD+RW rewriting, making it one of the fastest DVD+R/RW drives on the market today, the manufacturer describes. The drive also features a premium digital media software package from Roxio, including Easy CD Creator 5.3 DVD Edition and PhotoSuite 5 SE.
The PX-504A gives the ability to back up and archive up to 4.7GB on a single-sided recordable DVD disc, and to create photo albums for viewing with DVD players. Lossless-linking technology enables basic editing tasks directly on the DVD disc, so there is no need to reload DVD content back to a PC to make minor changes, and no need to re-burn an entire DVD after making small edits.
The drive itself is designed for flexible PC installation, with support for horizontal or vertical drive bay orientations, ATA/ATAPI-5 interface, and compatibility with Microsoft Windows 98/98Se/ME/2000/XP operating systems.
