Formac Upgrades Studio DV Converter/Media Tuner

Berkeley, CA - Formac Electronic Inc. has announced an upgrade program for its Studio dv/tv FireWire media converter.
Formac’s upgrade program allows owners of the Studio dv/tv to upgrade their device to take full advantage of Apple’s new iMovie 3, and adds digital audio recording capability with up to 48 Khz at 16 bit.
The latest release of the Studio TVR software features special iMovie 3 preferences, adjusting the audio and video settings of the Studio dv/tv for optimal recording quality in iMovie 3. The settings are automatically activated every time iMovie 3 is launched. Additionally, the Studio TVR software includes a special iMovie remote control, allowing users to select TV channels and video sources directly in iMovie. Users can now watch, record and edit TV directly in Apple’s video editing application.
Formac’s new Audiomaster software, allows users of the upgraded Studio dv/tv to record audio in high-quality DV audio format. The software provides three digital audio modes, allowing user to determine the quality of audio by adjusting bit rate and sample resolution. Standard setting for the DV audio is 32 Khz at 12 bit. Additionally, the user can choose between two high-quality settings: 44.1 Khz and 48 Khz at 16bit. Audio recorded with Audiomaster software can be imported directly into iTunes and converted to MP3.
Pricing and Availability
Formac’s upgrade program is available for free for owners of the latest
versions of the Studio dv/tv, equipped with an EPROM version of 1.06 or
higher. An upgrade program for earlier versions of the Studio dv/tv is available for $49 including labor & parts for hardware upgrade, new software CD.
