WEVA’s 'The Power of Video' Returns to ABC Chicago
April 20, 2010
Chicago, IL - First shown to the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) Chicago chapter in April 2006, WEVA’s "The Power of Video" presentation has evolved with continuous updates displaying brilliant wedding and event video creativity from WEVA Creative Excellence Award winners. Presented to wedding industry affiliates across the U.S. and in Japan and Europe over the past four years, an updated "Power of Video" returned to Chicago last week.
The WEVA Public Relations Committee’s newly christened "The Power of Video & Social Media" was presented to ABC’s Chicago members on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 by PR Committee Chairperson, Kris Malandruccolo, a WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame inductee, and owner of Elegant Videos by Kris (Chicago, IL).
The Chicago ABC chapter meeting was hosted by Mary Gearhart, Bartlett Hills Golf Club, in Bartlett, IL. "For those in the wedding industry, Kris Malandruccolo's presentation does an absolutely fantastic job at addressing the necessity of utilizing both videography and social media to their fullest potential," Gearhart said. "With the staggering number of people connected to an ever expanding Internet community, it would be silly for anyone pass on such limitless marketing opportunities."
The ABC Chicago chapter consists of not only bridal consultants, but vendor members including videographers, photographers, florists, DJs, officiants, musicians, artists, invitation specialists, etc. Through "POV" they all saw WEVA Creative Excellence Award-winning wedding films, and learned how they could use social media to promote their business.
Malandruccolo, who is an ABC member and the only videographer to hold the ABC designation of Master Wedding Vendor™ notes, "I am an ABC member not only for the networking opportunities, but because I learn about trends in the entire wedding industry. Through WEVA and my local videographers association, IVA (Illinois Videographers Association) I keep up with new and emerging trends in professional videography, but through ABC I stay current with all other wedding trends which helps me when I talk to my brides and grooms about their wedding day."
Developed by the WEVA Public Relations Committee which includes WEVA members: Al Ritondo, Mike Nelson, Steve Moses, and the newest Committee member, Christine Moore, "The Power of Video" shows how the impact of highly-produced videos can help market and sell the big-picture concept of filming weddings and other important lifecycle events, and how wedding professionals can use video and new social media to gain more business.
ABC Chicago Chapter President Judy Alden, owner of JuWil Consulting, said she enjoyed seeing "POV” noting, "I knew it would be a great presentation. I liked the video snipits and thought the 'themed Mission Impossible' Concept movie was especially entertaining. The instructions in the WEVA handout on how to create a Fan Page on Facebook and how to upload videos were great. I can't wait to try it out and create a Fan Page for my business. Thanks again, Kris, for a job well done."
Kim Shokouhi of Kim Shokouhi Photography said, "I identified with WEVA’s research on brides’ views on videography after the wedding. When I was married in 2002 videography did not make our Top 10 List. Now 8 years later, I wish I had a film that complimented our wedding album to share with my daughters of their parents laughing, crying, dancing and enjoying a breathtaking day."
Jay Frank of Crestline Entertainment, Inc. relates, "Kris’ presentation was well-done, thought out, organized and to-the-point. I felt awe-inspired and glued to the ‘Power of Video’ clips that were highlighted. Editorially speaking, it was interesting to see that brides, grooms (and even their attendants) can now have the chance to align themselves with the ‘Rock and Movie Stars’ that they truly are that day!"
Howard Kier of Magical Moments Photography said, "Even as a photographer, Kris' presentation got me thinking as to how I might use video and social media to more effectively promote my photography business. I realize that I've only begun to scratch the surface of social media."
