Call for Nominations - Videographers to be Honored at WEVA EXPO 2010

Sarasota, FL - Since 2001, Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) has honored exceptional achievments and service to our industry by bestowing several WEVA Special Awards of Recognition. Deadline for this year's nominations is May 25, 2010.

"It's now quick and easy to enter Nominations," said WEVA Special Awards Committee Chairman Ken Kurita. "Simply go to WEVA.com and click on 'Members' then click the WEVA Honorees tab on the left-hand panel -- or just click here to nominate! There is a brief description of each WEVA Award with a corresponding button that says 'Click to Nominate.' Then simply enter your nomination."
The Association's Special Awards of Recognition will be presented on Monday night, August 23, 2010 during the WEVA 20th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo's Opening Night Gala at the spectacular Swan & Dolphin Resort in Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL.
Any WEVA international member may nominate another for the Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award, the BoB LeBar Vision Award, the Pam Andelora Ambassador Award, and induction into the WEVA Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame. Both members and non members may nominate candidates for the WEVA Community Service Award.
The Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame opened in August 2000 at the WEVA 10th Annual Wedding & Event Expo with the unveiling of the Hall's historical "Tools & Technology" exhibit. This special industry preservation exhibit displayed professional recording equipment dating back to the very beginning of professional wedding and event videography, and included industry memorabilia from videographers commemorating the history of our profession. The Tools & Technology Exhibit is being prepared now for a brand new unveiling in conjunction with the special WEVA 20th-Year Wedding & Event Video Expo 2010.
At WEVA EXPO 2001, WEVA International conducted the first Hall of Fame induction of videographers whose contributions to the professional wedding and event industry nurtured its growth. This recognition gave birth to the following WEVA Special Awards.
Special Awards of Recognition
The Walter Bennett Service to Industry Award, named in memory of the pioneering producer and local association founder from Tulsa, OK, was introduced in 1999. This Special Award honors the WEVA International member who, through the donation of time, by teaching and writing and by service in a local association or national level, strives for exemplary professionalism that lights a pathway for other videographers to follow.
The Bob Lebar Vision Award, introduced in 2000 is named in honor of the groundbreaking video animator from Hartsdale, NY. This award recognizes the WEVA member who has made innovative contributions to the development of the professional wedding and event community by advancing unique ideas and invoking a keen sense of entrepeneurial spirit, together with a strong sense of professional pride, raising the bar to new heights.
The Pam Andelora Ambassador Award was named after the Arizona videographer who brought energy, enthusiasm, and the ability to inspire others in their quest for excellence. This award recognizes WEVA members who have demonstrated their willingness to reach out and contribute to the WEVA community by volunteering their time and expertise.
The Community Service Award was created after the 9-11 event, when a number of New York area videographers donated their services to commemorate victims of that tragedy. The award recognizes WEVA members who have graciously donated their time and expertise to help non-profit organizations raise money and awarness of those among us who are themselves the victims of unfortunate circumstances.
Induction into the Wedding & Event Videography Hall of Fame is WEVA's highest honor. The Hall of Fame recognizes long term WEVA members who have contributed an extraordinary body of work to WEVA International. This award also takes into account a WEVA member's leadership in their local association and their participation in WEVA EXPO, the Association's educational conferences and events, and WEVA committees.

Each year the SAC Committee conducts background research, deliberates and bestows Awards based on individual merit and exceptional industry achievements," said SAC Committee chair Ken Kurita.
