Attendees Rate 19th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo Huge Success
September 29, 2009

Sarasota, FL - Held this month in Orlando, FL, the WEVA 19th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo was declared a huge success by participants. Their own words say it best.

It was a great EXPO and a great location. Can't wait to see what will happen for the 20th next year!
Marc Percy-Visually Remember Productions

Great hotel, great veteran & rookie speakers and new fresh ideas for tough times. Just what this industry needed at this time. A big "It's Appreciated" to all involved, including the best of all - the attendees. See you all for the 20th anniversary next year!

"I have been a member of WEVA since 2002. Tomorrow, my family and I leave for Orlando to attend the 2009 WEVA EXPO. WEVA members are dedicated video producers who specialize in the art of documenting and preserving important social and corporate events and presentations. I belong to WEVA for a number of different reasons, on going support from other professional around the world, a huge knowledge base to answer any question that may come up, but the biggest reason is because of its code of ethics. I am going to be taking a lot of classes next week that will improve not only my camera skills, but also my editing and marketing skills. This is going to make me a better videographer and a better wedding videographer."

New and exciting digital products were introduced at the WEVA EXPO 2009 Trade Show, including the Canon EOS 7D camera (HD DSLR), Panasonic AG-HMC40 handheld camcorder, EDIROL LVS-800 Video Mixer, Americhip’s “MY VIDEO, MY VOICE” Video-In-Print technologies, Kodak’s new version of the “Shoebox” photo scanner, Global Broadcast Network’s on location “LIVE-Streaming" products, JUMPSTARTWEB’s new online marketing packages, the “BarberBoom remote-control boom system, and more.

This year’s WEVA Creative Excellence Awards (CEA) presentation displayed fresh and exciting event video creativity, with a international flair. Winners included videographers from the Philippines, Hong Kong, Europe, Mexico and the US.

Sixteen CEA categories produced video gems from demos to full events, which WEVA EXPO attendees could watch in their entirety all week in the WEVA Backlot Lounge. As in year’s past, the WEVA Awards Night Gala was also the platform for presenting the annual WEVA Special Awards of Industry Recognition, and the announcement of members who have earned their WEVA Merited Professional Videographer (MPV) accreditation.

WEVA EXPO 2009 broke new ground in education for videographers worldwide. The staff did an amazing job. I would also like to recognize and thank Ken Kurita and the Special Awards committee. They worked very hard and deserve our thanks. I'm looking forward to the 20th anniversary WEVA spectacular. Congratulations to all the award winners and seminar speakers. Well done.

Speakers from the film and event industries wowed the session attendees with valuable techniques and information they could take back to their business. Everyone form new videographers to the veteran shooters all were amazed at the quality and relevance of the presentations. Kevin Sharpley and Gianfranco Bianchi producers of the Beach Chronicles took us behind the scenes to reveal how they produced their award winning animated series…Norman Hollyn editor for movie blockbusters like Cotton Club, Sophie’s Choice and Wild Palms, shared how he produced scenes that made the audience lean forward…Joe and Dave Herbert, everyday videographers who won 1 Million Dollars by producing the Doritos Super Bowl commercial told their story and how attendees could enter in 2010…Linda Palmer and director Todd Wade revealed their film aptly named Wedding Video-The Movie and how they brought it together. An amazing week.

WEVA Expo - Truly wonderful.

Videographers new to WEVA EXPO were literally blown away with the number of choices they had in 4 jammed days at EXPO. They started with Tim Sudall’s seminar early Monday morning that explained in detail “How to get the most out of a WEVA EXPO” There were full time, part time and student first-timers that visited as many sessions as they could fit in as well as spending a great deal of time in the Trade Show. The learning curve at this EXPO was fast and furious, but many came away with more information to help them climb the video ladder of success.

Rick and I both loved our first WEVA EXPO... can't wait to come back next year!

I also enjoyed my first EXPO and had a good time.

This 2009 version of WEVA EXPO also had its share of relaxing and network oriented events as well. From the WEVA Monday Night Gala, to the Panasonic “WEVA After Dark” Tuesday Night bash and the WEVA Backlot which hosted a free breakfast every morning and a place to relax and watch CEA winning videos all day.

One of the built-in benefits of attending a WEVA EXPO is to network and learn from colleagues from all over the world. Tricks, techniques and amazing tweaks are available from professionals in the backlot, seminars, trade show floor, at social events and even at the amazing 14 acre pool. You can always find someone who looks forward to sharing their secrets if you’ll share yours. Local Associations from the US and around the world gather at the WEVA EXPO to exchange ideas on how to grow the industry.

Thank you WEVA for helping us out - your support of local associations is legendary - See you all next year for the WEVA 20th anniversary EXPO - I can only imagine what's in store then!
