WEVA Showcases Professional Videography at DV EXPO West 2008
December 22, 2008
Sarasota, FL - WEVA International in conjunction with its publishing partner NewBay Media presented educational sessions at DV EXPO 2008 and exhibited at the trade show as well.
Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on November 5th & 6th, DV EXPO West traditionally combines a Trade Show with Technology sessions for videographers of all levels on the west coast. “We have exhibited and participated in the DV EXPO for the last 5 years and find that it gives WEVA members on the west coast an opportunity to absorb more education and technology information," states John Zale, WEVA Director of Educational Development.
The WEVA session Photo Montages Made Easy, showed attendees how to produce a 60 photo Montage in less than 60 minutes. Using the revolutionary Kodak s1220 scanner, WEVA’s Director, John Zale scanned 60 photos in less than 4 minutes (at 300 dpi). The photos ranged in size from wallet size to 8x10’s. Then, a few of the same photos were re-scanned at 1200 dpi to demonstrate the difference in speed of the scanning at the higher resolution.
Once scanned, the photos were brought into 2 different programs to edit. The first was Pro Show Gold an easy to use program by Photodex. The second montage was created using an online program called Animoto. In this program, photos are uploaded to a website and then the Animoto program does all the editing. WEVA also presented a new session on Adobe’s CS4 Production Premium. Adobe Evangelist, Kevan O’Brien wowed attendees with tips, tricks, shortcuts and new features of CS4 that will allow wedding and event videographers to be more creative while streamlining the editing process.
Kevan took the attendees through new versions of Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Encore and Soundbooth. At the end of the 60 minute presentation, Adobe gave away a FREE copy of CS4 Production Premium ($1695 value) to one lucky attendee. The free prize drawing winner was Eduardo Pina (pictured above left).
Congratulations Eduardo and a big thank you to Adobe! John Zale adds, “We will go in depth with these new Product versions soon in both an upcoming issue of the Wedding Resource Guide and on WEVA.com.”
At the WEVA exhibit booth during the 2 day trade show, attendees were shown how they can upload photos and clips to LicenseStream which can generate revenue 24/7; explained the benefits of the new Errors and Omissions Policy from Buell Insurance; and finally the advantages of the Elavon Credit Card processing services. The traffic was steady and attitudes positive, even in today’s challenging economic conditions. Please visit WEVA.com for more updates on the DV EXPO.
"Many thanks to the WEVA sponsors at DV EXPO including Adobe, LicenseStream, Buell Insurance, Elavon and Kodak for their continued support of WEVA educational events," Zale said.
