Videographers Picture More Business Through Power of Association
December 16, 2007

Sarasota, FL - "2007 has been a groundbreaking year for WEVA’s educational outreach, nationally and worldwide. Working together, sharing new artistry, new marketing on a global level is lifting our industry higher at the local level," says WEVA International founder and chairman Roy Chapman.

"The new WEVA Local Association Ambassador Program was launched in February under the helm of WEVA Director of Educational Development John Zale and award-winning Philadelphia wedding videographer Natalie Neal (pictured here at the WEVA Ambassador event in Kansas). It was the kick-off of new professional development programs that are reaching event videographers industrywide - from the heartland of America to the outback of Australia. For 2008, wedding and event videographers will experience a new level of cutting-edge video and hands-on system training starting next month when WEVA’s Wide World of Weddings & Events at PMA 08 opens January 29 in Las Vegas."

Expanding Your Wedding Video Business

This brand new winter convention in Las Vegas for videographers Zale adds, "is where you can discover exciting new event video creativity, network on an intra-industry level, see how to take advantage of new digital imaging technologies to expand your business and your bookings - and get inspired! Make more sales by gaining a fresh, competitive edge for your video business that grabs the attention of today's bride and digital generation. This is where you'll find it this winter. Collaboration is the power of association at work."

Keeping videographers in touch with WEVA initiatives and industry trends is the goal of the new WEVA Ambassador Program. Officially announced in Boston at the NPVA, and launched at the JVA in Florida, the Ambassador Program has traveled cross-country ever since. At the Ambassador event in Wichita, KS Neal brought new wedding video sales and marketing techniques to the KSPVA, along with a few WEVA door prizes.

"Natalie packed a lot of ‘Philly’ energy in her ‘Sales, Marketing & Brides - Oh My!’ presentation. She brings a different approach to text-book information that keeps you thinking and exploring new ways to keep your video business on the cutting-edge,” said KSPVA president Deanna Summers.

"After meeting Natalie at WEVA EXPO where she was a featured speaker, I thought it would be exciting and beneficial to get her to speak to our local association. She is a natural fit for the videography industry. Several of our members commented to me afterwards on how exciting it was to have Natalie at our meeting. We appreciate the local association outreach that WEVA has shown to the KSPVA. We look forward to doing more educational outreach programs with each other in the future." Comments from Summers and KSPVA members have been echoed by local videographers associations in Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Des Moines, Houston, San Jose, and others.

Advancing the Power of Video

Showing wedding videographers and bridal vendors the POWER Of VIDEO and the power of association for advancing the industry at-large has been the WEVA Public Relations Committee chaired by WEVA Hall of Fame inductee Kris Malandruccolo (Elegant Videos by Kris - IL).

Over the past year, Kris has been a featured speaker for the Committee’s ‘Power of Video’ presentation at bridal industry conventions, local videographers associations, and intra-industry networking events not only in U.S. but in Europe as well.

The PR Committee, as reported in WEVA’s Wedding & Event Videography Resource Guide also includes Al Ritondo, Personal Touch Video (NJ); Mike Nelson, Remember When Video Productions (UT), and Natalie Neal, Glass Slipper Video Productions (PA). The Committee has spent two years developing Phase I & Phase II outreach programs that either directly benefit the WEVA membership, or are meant to promote the benefits of professional video to the wedding industry overall.

New WEVA Latino Education

2007 educational initiatives at the international level also enabled new WEVA strategic partnerships with AMPESAV in Mexico, and PUNTO leading to the formation of WEVA Latino Internacional announced at WEVA EXPO 2007. WEVA Latino educational sessions at conferences in Mexico and California have followed.

"Development of new WEVA Latino educational events is already underway, including plans for an educational outreach expanding into Central America," relates Dan Argenas, WEVA Director of Association Communications.

"Bringing professionals together for new educational development worldwide is inspiring and advancing the artistry and business of WEVA members in the U.S. and around the globe," Chapman said.

"We’re looking forward to 2008 and starting the New Year by introducing our members to brand new profit opportunities for videographers that are now emerging from the convergence of digital technologies. It all happens in January at WEVA’s Wide World of Weddings & Events at PMA 08 where wedding and event videographers will discover brand new and exciting ways to gain a unique and powerful edge for their video business this winter."
