Engagement Videos Spotlighted in Wall Street Journal Page One Story
June 01, 2007
Sarasota, FL - Engagement Videos, one of the hottest new trends in bridal video memories was recognized in the mainstream news media yesterday when The Wall Street Journal spotlighted the emerging trend in a Page One feature story. The print article is linked to a WSJ online version that shows engagement video samples, including a clip from proposal videos produced by WEVA members.
Saving wedding day memories and creating new ones on DVD is increasingly important to today’s brides and grooms. “Couples are particularly keen to record and publicize marriage proposals: About 1,800 such videos are now on YouTube,” according to the WSJ Page One article by Rachel Dodes. "They range from 10-minute how-we-met montages culminating in a series of exhortations to ‘say yes!’ from family and friends, to short clips of actual proposals," she writes.
"Since the story of every wedding and every wedding couple starts before the actual ceremony, it’s natural for couples to want to preserve the wonderful elements which contribute to that unfolding story, including all the sights and sounds. And that’s what professional videography does best," said Dan Argenas, WEVA International's Director of Association Communications.
The popularity of proposal videos online shows the value of capturing real marriage proposals on video, and today it can done discreetly by skilled videographers using new digital technology, including tiny wireless audio.
"Watching marriage proposals on the Web clearly shows the value of professional video, and how WEVA members are now capturing precious wedding memories long before the actual wedding day itself."
