Offering 60i in addition to 24p/30p progressive scan (as well as 2-3 pull-down recording), this recent entry in Sony’s HD line-up provides wedding and event videographers with a lightweight, mobile design and the ability to simultaneously record on both tape and the (optional) 60GB HVR-DR60 hard drive system.
The camcorder's features include: Minimum illumination rating of 4 lux (with F1.6 at 18 dB); Memory Stick Pro Duo; an HDMI output; and "true 24p" capture. List price for the HVR-V1U is $4,900, and $1,800 for the optional HVR-DR60 mountable hard drive.
Utilizing a combination of the 3-chip "ClearVid CMOS Sensor" system to deliver its high-resolution images plus EIP technologies, the HVR-V1U boasts the ability to capture video images at up to 240 fields per second, thus allowing very fast movements to be recorded without creating artifacts or signal degradation.
