Shining Technology Ships Tiny & Tapeless CitiDISK HD Recorder; See it at WEVA EXPO 2006
August 20, 2006

Las Vegas, NV - Videographers and editors with new HD cameras and NLE systems can speed post-production by eliminating the time-consuming video capture process by using the new CitiDISK for HD from Shining Technologies.

Now available, and set to be exhibited at the WEVA 16th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo Trade Show which opens on Tuesday, CitiDISK for HD is a high-capacity video storage peripheral small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

CitiDISK for HD is Shining's latest addition to its award-winning line of DV/HDV storage peripherals. This newest offering marks the company's support for Panasonic's HD camcorders.

"The WEVA community has always been one of our core markets, so we're proud to bring this innovation to WEVA EXPO 2006," said Chris Wang, marketing manager at Shining Technology. "When videographers learn about CitiDISK for HD's powerful combination, namely its small and light form factor and significant cost savings compared to P2 cards, they'll realize how approachable it is to adopt the HD format. It's an exciting time for our industry!"

CitiDISK - Big Things, Small Package

Weighing a mere 10 oz., the FireWire-enabled CitiDISK for HD offers the speed, storage capacity, portability and simplicity of recording directly from camcorders into most NLE software packages with instant playback capability, thus eliminating the intermediate step of re-capturing video footage.

Panasonic AG-HVX200 users perhaps will benefit most from CitiDISK for HD's extra storage capacity, providing up to an additional 120GB (equivalent to approximately two hours of recording time) for their HD-hungry footage. "With Panasonic's 4GB and 8GB P2 cards respectively priced at $55O and $1,200 each, CitiDISK for HD is an attractive, compelling peripheral," Wang said. "In addition, competitive external video storage drives are significantly heavier, have a larger footprint and offer less storage capacity while costing nearly double that of CitiDISK for HD."

CitiDISK for HD is currently available in 100GB ($1,049) and 120GB ($1,195) configurations - both are identical in their form factor. To give users maximum power sources without disrupting their workflow, CitiDISK for HD embeds a rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery that automatically kicks in when external battery power runs low.

This seamless battery power changeover ensures non-stop shooting capability with no need to shut down the unit. In addition, since Lithium Polymer batteries are particularly stable and less sensitive to temperature, they're not as prone to the overheating sometimes associated with Lithium Ion batteries.
