ATO May Release HD Video Sleeve for iPods By Year's End
August 01, 2006
San Carlos, CA - Advanced Technology Office (ATO), a start-up in San Carlos, CA that is selling the iSee 360i, its new iPod video sleeve in Best Buy and Wal Mart stores, is reportedly developing an HD sleeve that may be released within five months.
The HD sleeve would transform any iPod or video iPod into an HD player and sell for under $250.
The iSee 360i ($249), which first appeared in WEVA Industry News in January, turns an iPod into a video recorder. ATO says it extends the functionality of most Click Wheel iPods to include music, photos, and video recording from any analog source. Playback features a 3.6 inch LCD screen powered by a 4-hour rechargeable and replaceable battery.
According to ATO, its iSee video recorders, which weigh only six ounces are the first and only portable media players that enable users to record video content directly onto most Apple iPods, and then view it on the built-in LCD screen.
Using an iSee video sleeve allows iPod users to record and store TV shows and movies directly from TV, cable, satellite, DVR or any other analog source. In addition to viewing on the iSee, video files can be played back on TV sets that have an "analog in" connection.
