DataVideo Releases DAC-200 Media Converter
May 22, 2006
Whittier, CA - DataVideo announced that the Datavideo DAC-100 media converter has been replaced by DAC-200 ($199) with locked audio. All other features are the same.
The DAC-200 is the bridge between digital and analog video. PC and Mac platform video editors now have a simple, competent solution for transferring video and audio back and forth between analog tape and DV.
The unit includes two DV connectors (FireWire), and input and output connectors for S-Video, RCA composite video and stereo audio. It has a color bar generator, selectable 0/7.5 IRE and a power supply.
Locked Audio
According to DataVideo unlocked audio may be a problem when you use a digital audio workstation (DAW) or into an ADAT digital audio recorder together with the digital audio datastream from a DV tape. You may get glitches, artifacts or distortion. If the audio workstation or ADAT is trying to lock onto the audio clock from the unlocked audio datastream, the entire audio file may be unusable.
