New $129 Point-and-Shoot Camcorder Hits U.S. Stores
May 02, 2006
San Francisco, CA - Pure Digital Technologies, the company that brought the first “disposable” one-time-use digital camcorder ($29.99) to market a year ago, has just released a brand new flash-based, pocket-sized camcorder that’s both compact and amazingly cheap. It went on sale at Target stores yesterday for $129.
The San Francisco-based company says their new, breakthrough camcorder is designed to be a simple and easy-to-use device for all who want to “record and share” video memories.
The unit is equipped with a built-in USB swing-out arm that connects to a PC. The built-in software allows for instant and automatic transferring of data, and avoids the need for a user-installation.
The camcorder holds up to 30 minutes of digital video and includes a one-touch recording button, an LCD preview window (but no viewfinder), an audio speaker with volume control, zoom in/out function, an instant delete-video button, TV connector cable and software to provide simple emailing of video clips, and easy transfers to DVD.
Pure Digital Technologies, which has reportedly sold about one million of its one-time use camcorders, is already predicting similar sales of about one million units for its brand new camcorder by year’s end.
