March 23, 2006
Sarasota - The 8th Annual WEVA Town Meeting Tour kicked-off in Philadelphia on Monday with breathtaking creativity in wedding & event video, awesome camera artistry, new SD/HD technology, and the unveiling of new portable video concepts for bridal marketing.
Joining wedding and event videographers from around the Philly metro area were fellow videographers from New Jersey, New York, Delaware, New Hampshire, Illinois, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virgina.
WEVA NEWS MINUTE video producers Bruce Himmelblau and Sue Lawson captured a sneak-peek of the event for this special on-location video report – hosted by former GPVA President Tim Sudall. To watch Click Here! (Large file. Allow 1-2 minutes for QuickTime download).
“Thanks to the full support of the Greater Philadelphia Videographers Association (GPVA) and Adobe Systems, WEVA’s first-ever Town Meeting in Philly was a tremendous success,” said WEVA International Chairman Roy Chapman who was on-site for the 2006 Tour launch.
“The WEVA Town Meeting was an outstanding educational event,” said GPVA President Bruce Garner. “We saw a lot of fresh ideas, a lot of exciting creativity. And, we picked-up new members.”
The WEVA Town Meeting in Philly began earlier in the day when videographers packed the WEVA Institute pro video workshops to learn new creative editing and production techniques.
An extended session on Adobe’s Production Suite tools, tailored to professional wedding and event work, spotlighted creative techniques using the new Multi-Cam feature in Premiere Pro, new templates in After Effects, render-free workflows with Dynamic Link, and more.
At the afternoon workshop on “Concept Videos: Beyond the Loved Story” multi-year WEVA Creative Excellence Competition Award winner Chris Chibucos revealed cutting-edge techniques for scripting, producing, and marketing high-impact concept videos designed to fit a client’s unique personality.
The evening Town Meeting, open to all professional videographers, was hosted by WEVA’s Director of Educational Development John Zale and brought rounds of applause from videographers who showed their appreciation and enthusiasm for the artistry and technical production wizardry screened by multiple WEVA presenters.
Topics presented included: “Creating A Demo That Will Improve Your Bottom Line,” by Jenny Lehman, Jenny Lehman Film and Video (MD); “The "WOW" Shots: How To Shoot 'em, How To Edit 'em” by Chris Chibucos of Furlavision Video Productions (IL); Making the Transition to HiDef,” by Vance Hohenthaner of VH Video Productions (FL); and “Portable Video: A Great Tool For Expanding Your Bridal Marketing,” by Kris Malandruccolo, Elegant Videos by Kris (IL).
“On this year’s WEVA Town Meeting Tour, we’ve expanded the evening presentations based on suggestions from WEVA members," Zale said. Presenters have more time to show more awesome creativity."
As an additonal WEVA bonus, Door Prizes were awarded during the evening to Town Meeting attendees. John P. McAllister from McAllister Enterprises was the Grand Prize winner. He took home the brand new Adobe Creative Suite Production Studio (over $1,500 retail value).
