Laird's New LTM-ER4HD Router for NLE's Headed to NAB

Mount Marion, NY - Laird Telemedia, a leading designer and manufacturer of digital video and professional audio broadcast products, will showcase its latest router, the LTM-ER4HD, designed primarily for NLE systems, at NAB2006.
The LTM-ER4HD allows users to switch and control up to four external digital or analog video devices to and from an NLE system or post-production switcher.
The LTM-ER4HD builds on the success of Laird's LTM-ER4 analog NLE router, introduced in 1998. New features include the ability to select audio, video, or RS422 independently to or from the NLE and built-in 1:1 machine-to-machine override for dubbing functions.
Besides its routing capabilities, the LTM-ER4HD also provides full duplex RS422 machine control with the touch of only one button. It supports HD, SDI, component, YC, and composite video, along with AES/EBU digital or balanced analog audio signals.
"The LTM-ER4HD can greatly simplify the post-production process," said Nigel Redman, vice president of engineering at Laird. "By allowing post-production and other professionals to switch and control up to four external digital or analog video devices to the NLE or post switcher, in all major formats, it saves an enormous amount of time and machine wear and tear, which translates to money saved during this process."
Redman added that the LTM-ER4HD is a 1-GHz bandwidth, high-performance product capable of handling SDI, HD, component, YC, and composite video processing. Digital audio AES/EBU is also supported. A utility port is available to control other Laird add-ons such as the LTM-ER4DX2 digital FireWireŽ SPIDIF switcher. The product is housed in a 3-RU EIA rack-mount unit and works in PAL or NTSC.
