Toshiba Unveils Laptop with HD DVD Player

Hanover, Germany - From Europe's CeBIT electronics trade fair, Reuters News Service reported that Toshiba introduced a laptop computer with an HD DVD drive and a high resolution screen. It is part of Toshiba's Qosmio line of high end computers.
According to the report, the first of this line of laptop computers will sell for about 2500 to 3500 euros and will be available in Europe within a few weeks. Toshiba has previously announced that standalone HD DVD players would be introduced during this month. The report quoted Oscar Koenders, European computer marketing manager at Toshiba stating that his company expects to offer an HD DVD player for 499 euros in about a year.
WEVA Association News reported last week that a new copy protection system may delay the release of HD DVD. The WEVA report also noted a possible delay in the competing Blu-ray format because of the delay in releasing Sony's Blu-ray disc equipped Playstation 3. Read that news at:
