Canopus Announces New MPEG Encoder/Decoder
March 01, 2006
Paris/Nevada City, CA - Canopus, a part of the Grass Valley business within Thomson, announced MVRD4400, the latest in their line of MPEG encoding/decoding hardware. Designed for OEM’s and custom video recording and playback systems, MVRD4400 provides realtime, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoding and decoding. Featuring software for capture and playback, MVRD4400 also includes a software development kit for creation of custom applications.
MVRD4400’s pre-filtering features include advanced 3D Y/C separation designed to reduce color noise and improve image quality, 3D digital noise reduction to eliminate noise in the analog video signal, a line time base corrector (LTBC) to correct video images that jitter, as well as frame synchronization and auto gain control. MVRD4400 also allows for display of the multiple-input screens when using multiple MVRD4400 boards.
When combined with MediaEdge, Canopus’s LAN-based video delivery solution, MVRD4400 provides support for live external video sources, such VCR’s, DVD players and satellite feeds, which can be encoded and rebroadcast across a MediaEdge network in realtime.
The Canopus MVRD4400 will be available by the end of the month from Canopus and its authorized resellers and system integrators.
