FutureVideo Enhances Media Commander MC-200NL
February 22, 2006

Laguna Niguel, CA - Device control pioneer FutureVideo Products unveiled several new enhancements to its multi-purpose digital video device controller, Media Commander. MC-200NL.

Media Commander MC-200NL ($999) adds the control and functions commonly used in a variety of digital media systems —- including those used for security, de-briefing, education and training, broadcast and non-linear editing. The unit is capable of interfacing with a broad range of both digital an analog players and recorders through its unique auto-sensing device protocol design, regardless of the media format. It allows controlling digital media on tape, disc, or solid-state devices—as well as controlling applications running
on a PC.

In its PC keyboard emulation mode, the MC-200NL can operate a number of different applications using short-cut key commands. Its setup and configuration software integrates key mapping and jog/shuttle preferences that can be programmed and saved in flash memory for a total of 25 assignable functions. The accompanying software comes with pre-configured key maps and plug-ins for various NLE systems, including Adobe Premiere and others.

According to FutureVideo’s Stephen Godfrey, “Our policy of continual engineering evolution ensures Media Commander MC-200NL will remain the most flexible, open-ended digital video device controller on the market. Its unique multi-purpose design means only one model is required for interfacing with many types of audio/video media devices as well as a PC. Given our two decades of device control expertise, we remain committed to delivering sophisticated yet elegant solutions that meet the expectations of professional equipment vendors and their customers. End-users will revel in the ease by which they can re-configure and program the MC-200NL’s controls to accommodate a variety of systems—or new system products they may come to acquire.”

The MC-200NL’s capabilities extend to its direct control of professional/industrial VTRs, DVRs with RS-422A/RS-232C interfaces
and also various camcorders & VCRs equipped with LANC or Panasonic 5-pin edit control ports. It also is compatible with various Digital Audio Tape Recorders (including DTRS/DTS machines) and DVD recorders.
