Sharp Expands Professional Projector Suite
January 27, 2006
Mahwah, NJ - Sharp's new Conference/Classroom Series XG-MB65X ($2,495) and XG-MB55X ($3,395)portable projectors feature Texas Instruments DDR (Dual Data Rate) chip developed to improve the projector's contrast ratio through microscopic mirrors that recreate a video or graphic source by reflecting or not reflecting light onto a projection surface. The projectors utilize DLP technology, have a 2000:1 contrast ratio, XGA native resolution and built-in RS-232C connectivity so IT support departments can remotely check projector lamp life or provide operational support.
"Teachers, business professionals and corporate presenters can deliver an unforgettable presentation using the XG-MB65X or XG-MB55X," said Bruce Pollack, associate director of marketing, Sharp Information Systems Group. "These projectors offer the latest in imaging technology combined with easy-to-use functionality, at an affordable price point."
Sophisticated Image Quality
For color accuracy, both models incorporate a Condenser Lens Optical System designed to create rich black tones and sharp on-screen images. A new 3x speed 4-segment color wheel with an enhanced white color segment was developed to optimize white level and brightness to ensure that all projected images are uniform.
Ease-of-Use
The XG-MB65X and XG-MB55X have advanced features designed to be easy to use in virtually any business or education application. The on-screen guide and "help" function helps ensure simple setup and operation. An advanced picture mode pre-sets the projector to recall preferred settings for multiple users automatically. A wireless remote with built-in forward/back PC control, when used with Sharp's optional AN-MR2 Remote IR Receiver, allows the user to advance slides in a presentation from virtually anywhere in the room.
The projectors weigh less than nine pounds and can be ceiling mounted (for permanent installations) or operated from a table-top or AV cart. For "portable" use, they can be moved easily from classroom to lecture hall or boardroom to home office.
They offer HDTV/DTV compatibility for use with current and future video technologies as well as extensive connectivity. Inputs are provided for two RGB or component sources, S-video, composite video and stereo audio. Outputs include stereo variable audio line-out ("VAO") and RGB monitor loop-through. Both models additionally feature an RS-232C port, and the requisite RS-232C control adapter ships with the product. An optional AN-LS1 Ethernet to RS-232C interface permits LAN connectivity.
Low Total Cost of Ownership
A low power "eco" mode extends the projectors' lamp life up to approximately 3000 hours, according to the company, and reduces fan noise (30dB) for quiet, economical operation. Theft prevention has also been addressed by the line, with "key code activation" to prevent unauthorized operation and the availability of an ultra-heavy-duty security cable kit for use with Sharp's ceiling-mounting systems.
Both models are backed by a two-year parts and labor limited warranty including two years of Sharp's industry-leading 24-hour turnaround "ER" Express Repair support. Warranty on the user-replaceable projection lamp is 90 days.
