HDTV2DVD Freeware Converts HDTV to DVD

- HDTV2DVD v0.4 is a new freeware tool developed to simply convert your HDTV material to DVD. To download the 2 MB HDTV2DVD file you will need .Net Framework 1.1.
HDTV captures are MPEG-2 transport streams at either 1280 x 720p or 1920 x 1080i resolution, yet DVD is typically MPEG-2 program streams at 720 x 480 (for NTSC). This means that to play HD material on a "normal" DVD player you have to convert the source. This is what HDTV2DVD does in a simple, user friendly way.
Load up your HDTV file (.ts or .tp), start the processing and HDTV2DVD will produce a VIDEO_TS DVD folder ready for you to burn.
The company also offers free software that they say is a "very cut down version of SVCD2DVD (which does the same but does avi/mpeg and also has menus, subtitles, burning etc)." The company's news release adds that they, "wish to release this to make an easy method for those who want to convert HDTV to DVD quickly, with minimal fuss. Please bare this in mind: it will never be the perfect solution for the purist but hopefully won’t be far off! Yet it will allow many more people to put HDTV material onto DVDR."
