Blu-ray HD DVD Format Wars Heat Up

Tokyo, JP - Hi-Def format wars heat up this week with news releases by Panasonic and Toshiba.
Panasonic parent, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., announced yesterday that March is the target month to ship Blu-ray DVD drives for PC computers.
Panasonic had previously announced that they had manufacturing plant in Southern California set up to mass-produce Blu-ray disc media.

Also yesterday, Toshiba, maker of HD DVD format drives announced that 35 movie titles would be released in the HD DVD format including "The Aviator," movies from 10 Japanese studios plus South Korean films. Last week Toshiba issued a statement touting the benefits of HD DVD.
