Canopus Momento Turns Photos into Movies
September 29, 2005

San Jose, CA - Canopus announced Momento ($49), the latest addition to its line of creative software tools. Momento was developed to make sharing photos with family and friends fast, easy and fun.

Momento turns digital photos into an animated slideshow with motion effects, artwork, transitions, titles, music and voice-over. Slideshows can be e-mailed, posted on a website or burned directly to DVD. Canopus says that Momento can import all major photo and audio formats straight from a memory card, and with its unique 'SmartStyle' approach, all the user has to do is select a theme and Momento will automatically add motion effects, music and transitions.

Momento goes even further - the interface was designed to make fine-tuning slideshows easy, with image editing built in, including color correction, red-eye reduction, level adjustment and audio normalization. Momento supports standard definition 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios, and even HD resolution.

"Momento is really a fun software package. Not only is it easy to learn, but it's amazingly fast for creating slideshows with motion," said Jason Edwards, an early adopter of Momento. "Momento's rendering engine is very quick as well. I created a sample slideshow to burn to DVD to check out the quality. I figured with all of the animation and effects I added it would take a while to render. When I walked back to my desk a few minutes later and saw the slideshow completed, I first thought something must have gone wrong. Was I surprised to see that was not the case! And the resulting DVD's quality was excellent. I will be using Momento quite a bit."

Momento is available now directly from the Canopus Web site for a suggested retail price of $49.99. Canopus also offers a free, wizard-based version of the software - Momento Express - which includes much of the functionality of the full product, but without the ability to fine-tune or burn to DVD.

System requirements include Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional, DirectX 9.0 or later, Intel Celeron, Pentium III, Pentium 4, AMD Athlon, AMD Athlon XP or AMD Duron processor, 1GHz CPU or faster, 256MB of memory, 200MB of free hard drive space, a 1024 x 768 graphics resolution, 16-bit color (XGA) display, and a Windows-compatible sound card.
