Grizzly Pro Camera Remote Control & Live Switching
August 07, 2005
Las Vegas, NV - Grizzly Pro, designer and manufacturer of the r-THREE remote camera system, has developed two new systems. These systems enable videographers to not only control cameras remotely, but to do so with the lower cost, single camera solution of the r-ONE, or with the additional live switch features of the r-THREE-LS.
Dave Williams, President of DVideography, describes his needs as, “always looking for new ways to deliver an unbelievable product to our most discriminating clients. Grizzly Pro has now given us one more tool to raise the bar even more. The r-THREE system gives us the ability to give our clients breathtaking coverage of moments that would otherwise be just a memory. At times we must be completely unobtrusive and there is simply no slicker way to cover an event (than with the r-THREE).” In addition, he adds, “Ramping up the learning curve is extremely fast. In one day, wewere controlling the system like pros!”
Unlike other LANC remote control products which tie the videographer to the camera location, the r-THREE allows multiple cameras to be placed at remote locations and all controlled from one location. With the r-THREE, videographers have the features needed to remotely access the camera controls, motion controls and video feeds – for up to three cameras, as far away as 600’ – all from a single hand-held controller.
The camera controls consists of exposure control, auto and manual focus button, power on/off, record start/stop, visible time codes, as well as features such as status lights to let the shooter know when the cameras are indeed recording. The motion controls of pan, tilt and zoom can be independently configured to a constant speed, a linear speed, or a customizable ramp. And with composite video feeds also available, monitoring of remote cameras for focus and placement is a snap. All Grizzly Pro systems are designed to handle LANC equipped Mini DV, Hi8, and HDV cameras.
“The r-THREE is the perfect execution of the system that I had been envisioning”, stated Nick Xanttopulos, owner of Signature Videography. “The r-THREE is the only product that I can remember that actually delivered more than what was promised.”
r-ONE Remote Camera System for a Single Camera
To meet the needs of videographers who only require a remote camera control for a single camera, a reduced cost version of the r-THREE is now available - called the r-ONE. “With the r-ONE, video producers who may want to capture that special footage from the alter and needs only one remote camera, can do so and still have all the advanced control capabilities of the r-THREE – all at a low cost and in a system that can be upgraded to our multi-camera solutions,” said Phil Jensen, President and CEO of Grizzly Pro Video. Like the r-THREE, the r-ONE provides the same set of camera controls, full motion control and video feed from the handheld controller.
r-THREE-LS Remote Camera System with Built-in Live Switch
To meet the needs of videographers who want to reduce their post editing time or provide a high quality live feed, the r-THREE-LS is now available. This new system provides all the features of the r-THREE plus the ability to perform live switches – cuts and dissolves from one remote camera feed to another - all while still recording the uncut material to tape. The company says that the live feed can be broadcast in real-time during the event for such things as church overflow rooms or saved to tape for same day edits.
"Wedding and event videographers as well as producers of training video find this feature to be a huge time saver. It can just about eliminate the post-editing time", said Diane Miller, Grizzly Pro VP of Marketing.
