World’s First HD Weddings Theater Opens Next Week
August 04, 2005
Sarasota, FL - While SD still dominates, HD/widescreen is penetrating more of the US market every month. Fulfilling its mission to keep professional videographers on top of emerging technologies, the Wedding & Event Videographers Association International (WEVA) will introduce the world’s first HD Weddings Theater next week in Las Vegas at the WEVA 15th Annual Wedding & Event Video Expo. (On-site registration is open to WEVA members, non-members and industry affiliates).
The WEVA HD Weddings Theater opening next week at the Las Vegas Hilton, will be a first-ever exhibition of wedding videos from around the country, shot by professional videographers using high-definition cameras from manufacturers including both Sony and Panasonic.
“This an extraordinary industry-first. It’s our association completely out front and on the very cutting-edge of where professional wedding and event videography is headed for the future,” said WEVA's Director of Educational Development John Zale.
“No one in our industry has ever before seen anything like this state-of- the-art comparative exhibition of HD and SD wedding videography. We are thrilled to be unveiling the HD productions together with SD comparison videos in a special A/B (SD/HD) display next week. The WEVA HD Weddings Theater is only one of the exciting elements in store for wedding and event videographers who will be gathering together from around the world at WEVA EXPO 2005 starting Monday,” he said.
“In changing times like these,” Zale said, "our association is determined to make sure our members have access to the latest information, the best training, technology, and techniques, and through global events like WEVA EXPO, the best face-to-face peer networking for advancing the success of their business.”
WEVA EXPO 2005 will be presenting over 70 cutting-edge seminars, workshops and demonstrations all targeted to professional wedding and event videographers working at all levels. The convention is coupled with the industry’s biggest trade show of the year, where new products and services for professional wedding and event videographers will be unveiled and sold (often tagged with EXPO-Only Discounts) on the WEVA show floor.
Also at the WEVA Trade Show will be free hands-on system training (classroom style on computer workstations) for wedding and event work from top NLE manufacturers and trainers including Adobe Systems, Apple, Avid (Platinum EXPO Sponsor) and Canopus (Premier EXPO Sponsor). There is still time to register for the optional Pre-Convention workshops, including the all-new and comprehensive 4.5-hour "Afternoon with Apple" (FCP) Workshop. This extended Apple workshop is free to WEVA attendees on Monday afternoon (starting at 1:00 pm ending before EXPO officially opens at 5:45 pm with the start of 2005 WEVA Creative Excellence Video Fest - the world’s largest exhibition of award-winning wedding and event videography).
“We know WEVA members want to stay on top. That’s a primary reason why our association holds the annual EXPO in the summer. It enables professional videographers to return to their studio and be best prepared for the biggest period of wedding announcements, which traditionally begins over the Christmas holidays and continues through Valentine’s Day,” said WEVA Director of Association Communications Dan Argenas.
“Holding the annual EXPO in August, instead of January or February, for example, allows WEVA members to be far ahead of the curve, artistically and technically, when the biggest bridal booking season begins in the winter months. With professional videographers and industry leaders traveling from across the country and around the globe to attend WEVA EXPO next week, everyone is already looking forward to an outstanding international convention and trade show!"
