WEVA News Minute: ikan's Portable Teleprompter

Sarasota, FL - Whether you’re shooting a Bar Mitzvah Concept Video or a corporate “talking head” a teleprompter could be just the thing for your on-camera talent. But what if you’re on a tight budget?
Ikan Corporation now offers a low-cost solution called the PT1000. It’s a small, lightweight and portable teleprompter kit ($699) that mounts on camcorders, including DV/HDV units, via the camcorder's hotshoe. The kit comes with an 8-inch LCD display, and the prompting software.
WEVA NEWS MINUTE producer Bruce Himmelblau found the teleprompter was easy to set up and worked well for his on-camera subject when he gave it a trial-run. He tested the kit in conjunction with the V8000T 8-inch ikan monitor.

Since it doesn’t have large bulky mirrors typical of traditional teleprompters, the PT1000 can be used when shooting hand-held. The teleprompter features infrared control, horizontal and vertical flip, universal mounting kit, includes VGA and Video inputs, and weighs about 1.8lbs. The unit also comes with a car adapter.
