WEVA News Minute: Panasonic's New 5-Slot P2 Drive
July 27, 2005
Sarasota, FL - To save time in editing, videographers can now go tapeless and eliminate digitizing using Panasonic’s P2 recording system, and the company’s new AJ-PCD10, a five-slot P2 card memory drive ($2,500).
At HD EXPO in Chicago, WEVA NEWS MINUTE video producer Bruce Himmelblau talked with Jerry Tohtz from Midwest Media Group and shot video on-site of the new AJ-PCD10 at their exhibit booth. Click Here! (Allow for QuickTime download.)
With the AJ-PCD10, Panasonic says a user can mount five, 4GB P2 cards (containing up to 80 minutes of recordings in DVCPRO) at the same time and have access to the contents on all five cards for continuous editing almost instantaneously.
As an internal drive, the AJ-PCD10 installs in a standard PC type 5.25" bay drive enclosure, and through its high-speed USB 2.0 interface, connects to the host computer. For in-the-field use, the AJ-PCD10 serves as a stand-alone external drive and teams with a notebook PC for editing and playback.
