Google Video Upload Program Open to Videographers
July 09, 2005

Mountain View, CA - Signing up for the free Google Video Upload Program can connect your works with users who are most likely to want to view them.

Currently in beta, Google says they are accepting digital video files of any length and size. Simply sign up for an account and upload your videos using the Video Uploader (please be sure you own the rights to the works you upload), and, pending their approval process and the launch of this new service, they'll include your video in Google Video, where users will be able to search, preview, purchase and play it.

Program Overview
What is Google Video?

The company's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Google Video lets you search a growing archive of televised content -- everything from sports events to dinosaur documentaries to news programs. In addition to televised content, they'll also host video from anyone who wants to upload content to them.

What is the Google Video upload program?

The upload program lets you submit videos electronically to Google Video, as long as you own the necessary rights (including copyrights, trademarks, rights of publicity, and any other relevant rights for your content). Just sign up for an account and use their upload tool to send your videos to Google.

When will my videos be on Google Video?

Before going live, your video has to go through a number of steps which you can track through your account. After uploading your video to Google, you must enter information about your video, including its title and description. The video will then be verified to ensure that it meets Google's technical requirements, and may undergo initial review for compliance with their policy guidelines.

At any time after you upload your video to Google, you'll have the opportunity to add more videos, update the information about each video, or remove your video from the program.

What types of videos are they accepting?

Google accepts any type of video content, with these restrictions:
· You must own all necessary rights to the content, including copyrights to both the video and the audio.
· You must be able to upload the video to Google electronically.
· The video must not contain pornographic or obscene material or other content that violates our policy guidelines.

The content may be reviewed prior to being made available online.

Will users be able to play my videos?

If you’re willing to let users view your videos without a fee, then your video should be available on the website as soon as it goes through Google's verification and approval process.

You can keep up-to-date on the status of the uploaded videos by visiting the Google Video Upload page. From this page, you can sign in to your account to keep track of your video status.
