InterVideo's WinDVD 7 Offers HD & AVC Support
June 15, 2005

Fremont, CA - InterVideo announced WinDVD 7, available in two versions. WinDVD 7 Gold will appeal to movie lovers and business travelers who just want an easy way to enjoy high-quality movie playback. For power users who want the latest audio/video technologies and the ability to tweak the controls for their personal preferences, InterVideo offers WinDVD 7 Platinum.

With WinDVD 7 Platinum, InterVideo reinforces its commitment to futureproofing its award-winning movie playback software by adding HDTV and Advanced Video Codec (AVC) specification support, also known as H.264 playback support. WinDVD 7 offers digital TV recorded content playback and supports channel navigation for HDTV transport stream recordings. In addition, the latest DVD playback software adopts H.264, the next-generation DVD standard, MPEG-4 Part 10, making the state of the art video more accessible to more viewers.

A universal player, the Platinum version can also be used to playback Real, QuickTime, WMV-HD (Windows(R) Media Video High Definition) and MPEG-4 video files as well as InterActual-enhanced DVDs. In addition, the new WinDVD 7 will support the upcoming DivX(R) multimedia technology to deliver high-quality interactive video files. Equipped for UPnP(TM) playback, WinDVD 7 can be used to play back content and easily allocate media files from other UPnP-licensed devices among CE devices and PCs within a UPnP Home Network.

"Being able to use a single software solution to play all DVD/video/audio in multiple formats simplifies our customers' digital lifestyle," said Steve Ro, CEO and President of InterVideo. "It not only eliminates the frustration of media incompatibility issues, it gives users a growth path. They can get the most out of their current system now; and then, when they're ready to adopt next-generation technologies like HDTV, H.264, and high-definition audio, they'll already have the tools in place to begin enjoying them."

These customizable controls, and the other dynamic player controls that have been added to WinDVD 7, help users maximize their entertainment experience. In addition to being able to adjust the sound balance of their speakers, they can choose from various viewing options including dock/un-dock, change placements of each sub-panel, or keep the WinDVD 7 viewing window on top of any other window. Also new with WinDVD 7 is the External Subtitle Control which not only checks for subtitles and loads them in the external subtitle file, it lets users adjust the placement, subtitle color and size. This is especially convenient for the new DivX media format for CE devices. Similar to the controls on a standard television set, there are no confusing settings with WinDVD 7. Everything is straightforward and easy to use.

Unique to the DVD player market is WinDVD 7's new Google Toolbar and Google Desktop Search application which provides fast, convenient access to obtaining information and managing multimedia files -- not only through the Internet, but also on the desktop.

With WinDVD 7, even the existing fun-to-use tools have been enhanced with new features. The new QuickClip 2, a consumer favorite for capturing a video scene and saving it in a GIF format, now allows users to set the recorded length, image size, and customized frame encoding so files can be easily emailed to friends or even transferred to a mobile phone.

The second-generation of Trimension(TM) DNM (Digital Natural Motion) technology featured in WinDVD 7 has also been enhanced. Widely recognized for delivering the smoothest motion playback, the technology now provides improved performance -- even in low power situations. With the WinDVD 7 Platinum version, users will have the opportunity to use the advanced viewing options to compare the improvement of using Trimension technology.

Like the previous version, WinDVD 7 features InterVideo's time-stretching and Mobile Technology. The Mobile Technology helps users extend the battery life and playback time of mobile PCs based on Intel(R) Centrino(TM) processors. Time-stretching allows users to watch a 2-hour movie on a 1-hour and 30-minute flight by speeding up the playback without loss of audio or video quality.

WinDVD 7 can be used with desktop and laptop computers running Windows(R) 98SE/2000/ME/XP. WinDVD 7 Gold, the standard consumer edition, and WinDVD 7 Platinum, InterVideo's high-end version, is available at InterVideo's website, and will be at retail outlets around the world within the next few weeks. The suggested list prices are $49.95 for WinDVD 7 Gold and $69.95 WinDVD 7 Platinum. Upgrades for current licensed WinDVD users are also available on the InterVideo web site.
