SBC Slashes High-Speed Internet to $14.95
June 04, 2005
Sarasota, FL - According to Reuters, “SBC Communications Inc. the second-largest U.S. telecommunications company, plans to slash its price for high-speed Internet service by 25%, upping the ante in its rivalry with cable competitors.”
The report states, “SBC will begin offering broadband service for $14.95 per month to new customers who sign up online, $5 per month less than its previous lowest price.”
This latest offer on DSL Internet service, which requires a one-year contract with SBC, now makes broadband cheaper than many of the country’s dial-up services.
The new price-cutting move is seen as an aggressive marketing strategy by SBC to add and retain customers prior to the company’s upcoming advancement into the cable TV arena later this year.
