Microtek Shipping MS4 1200 Lumen DLP Projector
May 26, 2005
Carson, CA - Microtek, a manufacturer of digital imaging products, has announced that it is shipping its MS4 digital projector in the United States. The projector, designed to meet the unique needs of mobile professionals, training personnel and educators combines a compact footprint, comprehensive feature set and affordable price tag.
"Whether on the road or in the classroom, users look for digital projection technology that brings the best of technology and design at an affordable price," said Tommy Shih, product manager at Microtek. "At $799.99 MSRP, the MS4 is affordable enough to allow anyone to make use of the technology. And at just 4.5 lbs. plus a footprint that is the size of a standard sheet of paper, the projector is best-in-class in terms of portability."
The ultra-portable MS4 measures a trim 11 inches by 3.8 inches by 8 inches (WxHxD) and incorporates the latest DLP(TM) digital processing technology from Texas Instruments, which uses an optical semiconductor to manipulate light digitally. According to Microtek, DLP technology is the only solution that creates a digital connection between the graphic or video source and the display screen in order to optimize fidelity. The company reports that the MS4 offers amazing 1500:1 contrast ratio to project computer images and video with superior richness, clarity, color and detail.
The company says that 1200 ANSI lumens brightness allows for excellent image display capabilities even in less-than-optimal lighting conditions often found when doing presentations on the road.
Meanwhile, native SVGA ensures that computer images and video presentations are reproduced with the highest possible quality, while the XGA resolution capability makes the system compatible with computer systems that demand it. Digital keystone correction of up to +/- 15 percent remedies distortion caused by less-than-ideal projection angles and maintains correct aspect ratio for consistent video quality.
The Microtek MS4 incorporates a number of additional features aimed at ease of use and security. The included remote control, which also incorporates a laser pointer, offers access to the projector's capabilities from anywhere in the room through a USB connection.
The projector also comes with the Kensington(R) MicroSaver Security System. Other features include a convenient customizable power save option that allows users to extend usable lamp life by automatically putting the projector into a power-save mode after a defined interval.
The MS4 is optimized for ease of use and can be set up in minutes. The unit's connectors are clearly marked, and the projector adheres to the industry's "plug and project" standard. The projector can be installed in a variety of ways, including traditional tabletop setup and rear-projection.
The MS4 is now available at Microtek's online store and priced at $749.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. It also offers a free carrying case. The unit comes with a one-year warranty, and a 90-day lamp warranty.
