Imagine Releases HD Gold Video Logger for Mac
May 20, 2005
Carmel, IN - Imagine Products, Inc. announces the release and general availability of HD Log™ Gold and Silver v3.0 editions with new "VIDEO ASSIST" mode that auto-digitizes preview or edit quality, timecode accurate clips from camcorders on the fly.
HD Log Silver (MSRP $499) and Gold MSRP $699) are specifically designed for seamless XML export of clips to Apple Computer's Final Cut Pro HD.
HD Log's "VIDEO ASSIST" is made for monitoring HD work without expensive downconverters or wear and tear on camera heads. Users plug the USB timecode reader and analog (or DV input) into their PowerBooks. HD Log watches for incoming timecode to start recording, then stops when timecode stops. It is designed so the user can immediately review the clip without waiting for it to render or save to file. And, it automatically names the clips, eliminating annoying file save dialogs.
In addition to single clip QT files, users can select HD Log Gold's Batch Digitize option to automatically control the deck and capture clips for entire log files. The encoding options allow for individualized files for each clip--keeping them small and manageable. Adjustments for adding Head and Tail frames let users "pad" the clips to ensure the meaningful material is fully preserved. The Merge Rule enables multiple entries contained within roughly equal length video clips (chunks).
The company says the precise embedded timecode assures frame accurate playback and useful QuickTime files for editing in Final Cut Pro, Avid and others. They recommend using HD Log Silver to log and capture clips for Adobe After Effects or other non-digitizing applications. Tiger, QuickTime 7, and H.264 compatible.
HD Log is designed to be the ultimate in flexible logging. Users can set up custom templates, capture thumbnail pictures along with timecode, digitize clips, print out storyboards, sort files, search logs, select the best clips, copy and paste the clips into new log files. They can also import, export, and translate batch digitizing files and EDLs between various nonlinear systems.
