Ikan Releases Low-Cost Fluorescent Lights for Video
May 06, 2005
Houston, TX - The ikan Corporation introduced a new line of reasonably priced fluorescent lights for video based presentations. The lights are comprised of eight fixtures ranging from a 110-watt two-tube model to a 12-tube 660-watt fixture.
All models use economical 55-watt biax tubes that are available in tungsten and daylight color balances. Each fixture is equipped with a dimmable, flicker-free ballast and onboard dimming controls, along with a four-way barn door intensifier system. For larger studio applications the DMX 512 is available as an accessory.
Ikan will be exhibiting these lights and other equipment at WEVA EXPO 2005 (August 8-11, 2005) in Las Vegas.
Kan Yeung, CEO of the ikan Corporation identifies that the “cost of most fluorescent lighting puts it out of reach for many small production houses and interested individuals,” he went on to explain that “the entry level S5502D fixture features two 55-watt tubes for a total light output of 110 watts. It has an integrated combination of a push button fader control along with a four-way intensifier, for a MSRP of only $799.00 making it hard to say that fluorescent is still too expensive.”
The two and four-tube models are available in two configurations, either as a stacked array for maximum light output or in a strip for low clearance installations.
