April 29, 2005
Santa Monica, CA - G-Technology Inc. (G-Tech) is taking pre-orders on G-SAFE, a new line of fail-safe FireWire 800 RAID systems, and G-RAID Pro, a new line of protected FireWire 800 RAID systems for creative professionals.
G-RAID Pro is well-suited for audio & video editing, animation and digital imaging, the manufacturer describes, and connects to any Mac or PC via FireWire. It supports the playback of three simultaneous layers of uncompressed video in real-time, and is equipped with a sophisticated hardware RAID controller that enables the system to operate at full performance and without loss of data in the event of disk drive failure. If a drive does crash, it can be hot-swapped and work in progress can continue as normal while the system reconstructs in the background.
G-RAID Pro Features
• Hardware RAID 3 controller provides full-time data protection
• Supports the playback of three simultaneous layers of uncompressed video
• Full functionality in the event of a drive crash
• Useable storage capacities up to 2TB using 5 hot-swap disk drive modules

G-SAFE is equipped with a hardware RAID 1 controller that automatically mirrors data to two drives simultaneously providing data protection.
