Sony Enhances Anycast Station
April 27, 2005
Park Ridge, NJ - Sony's Anycast Station, the portable "all-in-one" studio for live content creation, has been enhanced with new features such SDI I/O options and text typing functionality.
The Anycast Station AWS-G500 model now includes: a six-input video switcher, six-channel audio mixer, special effects generator, LCD screen for GUI control and preview/program monitor, PTZ control for Sony interface robotic cameras, RGB connection for PC and projector display and an encoder and Web server for delivering streaming media, the manufacturer describes.
Each element of the system combines in-depth features with easy operation. The video switcher, for example, includes 16 wipe patterns, still picture import (TIFF, TGA, BMP and JPEG), DV program out from EDV I/O port, video input level adjust, fade to black, color bar and matte, DSK, LOGO and luminance key.
The audio mixer features program/mix/auxiliary outputs, limiter/compressor, EQ, delay adjustment (0-7.5F), four-line intercom and test tone generator. The camera control operates up to six PTZ cameras and can capture high-quality stills as well as high-resolution, full-motion video. Streaming features include a Real Video 9 encoder with a broad range of bit rates, operated by a menu-driven GUI interface.
The Anycast Station system is also capable of multi-camera HDD recording for tapeless A/V capture. Production elements can be transferred via iLINKŪ (IEEE 1394) digital connections onto external hard drives. The content is then immediately available for repackaging and reuse by attaching the drives to a nonlinear editing system.
The Sony AWS-G500 Anycast Station is currently available at a suggested list price of $19,500 for a standard configuration, which includes one BKAW-550 PC image interface module (two PC RGB input capability) and two BKAW-570 DV interface modules (two DV/composite/S-Video input capability).
The Anycast Station can also be customized and expanded by adding various optional modules, with prices based on individual configurations.
