Gefen Unveils HD SDI Connectivity and Conversion Solutions
April 11, 2005
Las Vegas, NV - Gefen will unveil new high definition serial data interface (HD SDI) equipment at NAB, the company announced, including a 4x2 HD SDI Switcher, 1:4 HD SDI Splitter, HD SDI to DVI Converter, HD SDI to DVI Conversion Box and a HD SDI Signal Test Generator.
The company has also announced discounts on its HDTV Extreme cables, now available in 33, 50, 66, 75, 100, 135, 210 and 330 foot lengths. HDTV Extreme cables are uniquely suited for HDTV projection and computer video extension because they combine fiber optics components and copper wires in a single cable in which the electronics are part of the DVI connectors.
The 4x2 HD SDI Switcher (MSRP $1999) connects four HD SDI sources to one or two HD SDI displays, eliminating the need to disconnect and reconnect sources or purchase a dedicated display for each source. HD SDI video is routed to the displays instantly with the "switch" between sources controlled by IR remote.
The 1:4 HD SDI Splitter (MSRP $1299) splits one source’s HD SDI video and sends it to four SDI displays at the same time. It also supports the extension of HD SDI up to 1000 feet in distance. The 1:4 HD SDI Splitter reads the incoming video signal and sends it along in the same format: if the input signal is standard definition, all four outputs will be the same; if it is HD SDI, all four outputs will be HD SDI.
The HD SDI to DVI Converter (MSRP $1295) and HD SDI to DVI Conversion Box (MSRP $1995) both allow the connection of HD SDI sources to digital displays equipped with DVI (digital visual interface) connectors. The Converter loops through HD SDI video and supports Apple’s new DVI-equipped displays. The HD SDI to DVI Conversion Box offers two switchable HD SDI inputs, one DVI input and a built-in scaler for the DVI output.
The HD SDI Signal Test Generator (MSRP $2999) offers multiple testing patterns to adjust frame rates to guarantee the best output on both SDI and DVI displays.
All of Gefen’s HD SDI solutions work with both standard and high definition equipment; multiple formats including NTSC and PAL are supported.
