New Media Container Delivers CD and DVD Content on One Disc

Asheville, N.C - Sonopress LLC has introduced a sampler disc containing CD audio material on one side, and DVD video content on the other.
The DualDisc sampler was distributed at the South by Southwest music conference as a promo; it includes music from independent artists on a CD-audio side and music videos and information about DualDisc on the DVD side.
DualDisc is a branded product that is a standard DVD 5 on one side while the opposite side contains music that can be played in nearly all CD players.
Along with specific packaging requirements, DualDisc requires the same music found on the CD player side must also be available on the DVD side. The music on the DVD side can be as simple as standard LPCM or as rich as 5.1 DVD-Audio.
The audio on the CD player side must be less than 60 minutes 17 seconds including any additional ROM data and buffers, the manufacturer specifies. In order to be considered a DualDisc, some video content must be included, the extent to which has not yet been established by the RIAA.
TVT Records, Koch Records, Victory Records and World's Fair Label Group have provided audio and video content from independent artists showcased on the CD player side. The DualDisc's DVD side includes videos from artists such as Blackfield, Hawthorne Heights, Ambulance LTD, Beth Hart, The Blue Van, Straylight Run, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, along with information about DualDisc technology, Sonopress and M1 DVD, a content producer.
Sonopress LLC is part of arvato, a Bertelsmann company; its services include pre-mastering, optical mastering and replication, graphics sourcing, packaging, assembling, warehousing and distribution. Sonopress produced the sampler as a demonstration of the new product's potential and to serve as an example of the company's DualDisc manufacturing capabilities.
