Canopus To Show New EDIUS Solution; Launches HDV Site
March 15, 2005

San Jose, CA - Canopus Corporation will unveil its Canopus Workflow and new EDIUS solution at NAB 2005 in Las Vegas.

The complete networked Canopus Workflow will be demonstrated during the conference, including EDIUS HD/SD/HDV/DV real-time editing solutions and the new network-based encoding solution, ProCoder Station, among other solutions.

Canopus has also launched its Education Site for HDV (www.canopusedu.com) to help video professionals considering the move from standard definition to the new HDV format.

The Canopus Education Site for HDV includes a Guide to HDV designed to help visitors understand the basics of the format, including a background on digital imaging, how HDV compression works, defining progressive versus interlaced, and how HDV works in a practical editing environment.

"We built this site in order to detail the advantages of HDV and how Canopus products can get your video ready for the future. Simply put, HDV is here and, with a little knowledge, can be as easy to work with as DV," said Ray Brooksby, vice president of sales and marketing at Canopus Corporation.

Canopus brings together its powerful real-time, mixed editing solutions and transcoding expertise with its LAN-based video distribution technology to provide video professionals with the ultimate workflow solution, so they can Create, Purpose and Deliver video content quickly and at the highest quality for broadcast, DVD, streaming and video-on-demand applications.

Create
Canopus's line of advanced real-time, mixed video editing solutions includes EDIUS HD, EDIUS SD, EDIUS SP for HDV and EDIUS NX for HDV. These solutions are powered by EDIUS Pro 3 nonlinear editing software to provide native editing and real-time processing of uncompressed SD, HD, HDV, DV, MPEG-2, and MPEG-1 formats. With its seamless real-time workflow, EDIUS Pro 3 lets professionals mix and share HD, SD, HDV, and DV assets, stored on the server or locally, and work with unlimited video, audio and effects layers, while providing real-time high-quality, full-resolution HD video output to an HD monitor for preview. EDIUS Pro 3 delivers increased quality and real-time performance through the company's acclaimed variable-bitrate Canopus HQ codec.

Canopus will also demonstrate a new EDIUS solution with high-end features that video professionals in broadcast and studio environments require, including MXF (Material eXchange Format) support, multicam-editing mode, and nested sequence editing.

Purpose
ProCoder Station, a network-based encoding solution built on the company's powerful ProCoder video encoding software, centralizes and automates the complex and demanding load of encoding multiple and large projects to prepare content for delivery via DVD, streaming and video-on-demand.

Deliver
MediaEdge is an affordable video distribution system that uses the company's proven MPEG-1/2/4 compression technology to deliver professional-level video over LAN-based networks.
